Exhaust piping

I am thinking about getting a Flowmaster muffler to put on to my 2.2L, and i want to go up to 2.5" piping. I dont really want to spend the extra money on having one custom made. So I was wondering what is the size of the piping on the SS, and will it fit the same as the 2.2L's piping? If it does i want to just buy that exhaust from the cat to the muffler and have a exhaust shop weld on the flowmaster to the SS piping. Can anyone give me some info on this, like is it worth it or should i stay with the stock size or if i can go with the SS exhaust....?

I can't answer your exact question I'm afraid. However, I can offer some insight. You might actually find that buying an SS pipe from GM Goodwrench parts would actually be more expensive then having an exhaust shop make a custom pipe for you. Custom exhaust pipe work really isn't that expensive.

I see what you are thinking, and you have a good idea, but do a little comparison shopping first and it might make your project easier.

Just to give you an idea. Bought a universal stainless oval muffler by magnflow on ebay for $86 shipped and then i took that to the muffler shop in my town and he custom bent the pipe, which went from 1.34in to 2.25 in from the cat back and i got a great look and a great sound and when all was said and done i have $240 in a cat back system that sounds really good. PM me if you would like the part number of the muffler and i will get that to you. Good luck.

So is the piping 1.75 inches on the cobalt? Is that the whole way up to the header or are there any reducers anywhere? Also is the inlet and outlet on the resonator 1.75 as well? Same with the inlet to the muffler, 1.75?

I wasnt planning on buying the piping from GM. I would probably order it from a parts store from around here. It all depends on how the pipe mounts to the header/cat. Im ordering the flowmaster now and i'll decide what to do about the piping when i get it. Ill leave an answer back on here when im done. And maybe a sound clip if i can do it.

Hey sorry about that Yes it is 1.75 All the way back and you should be able to get it done cheap.

Wish you best of luck and i would love to hear a sound clip tp compare the flow master to the Magnaflow. What kind of tip are you getting?
