Exhaust port matching when going turbo any good?

Is portmatching a good idea with the ecotec when going turbo? Can't figger it out and can't find the answer on the web.
Seems a smaller gap would help exhaust speed, but a larger one would improve flow volume?

Any input would be appreciated now I still have the exhaust flange around

Grtz,
Daniel

If by port matching you mean making the openings in the exhaust ports the same as the ones on your manifold, then yes it is a good idea. It smooths out the path the exhaust or intake air needs to take. That means you'll gain velocity, but also flow better. That doesn't mean you have to enlarge the ports, but blending is always a good idea if you know what you're doing. Just don't try to redesign the ports inside the head. A poor port job can cost flow and HP. Read up on it. This is NOT something you should do for the first time by yourself.
