fuel cut-off

what controls the fuel cut-off and can it be adjusted? i was out testing the limits after work when i hit roughly 125mph give or take and the fuel cut-off kicked in and my rpm dropped to ****, to about 4000. it felt like i hit something. i'm confident this car can go much, much faster then this, so how do you do it?

I don't know, maybe the speed's governed on the base model. Not sure though, just a possibility.

The 2.4 can have the cut off raised with the tuning from Vector, and I think Tune Time Performance. Might want to talk to them and see if the 2.2 PCM is cracked yet.

I would try Tune Time first since they are a supporting vendor and were talking about tuning the 2.2.

no way around it right now but stock tires are only rated to 130 so you shoudltn be doing over that speed do you wanna find out what happens when you blow out a tire at 130 plus look at is this way at least you got to 125 some of them only do 108

its in the ECU, the only way to really change it is to get some tuning software which isnt available for the 2.2 cobalts yet.
it is usually based on the rating of your tires so if you are going to bump up the limiter when you can, i would give some thought to upgrading the tires too.

Actually if you were to throw on the factory rims that come on he LTZ, the 16in wheels, GM has an update to correct the speedo, up the top speed, and a few other things, i tried to do this at my dealership, but couldnt find any factory 16in rims.

if you have the H rated tires, itll only do 120

you could, throw in a VSS cutoff switch, that way you could get around the limit
