Fuel Injectors and spark plugs

I am planning on bumping my fuel injectors up a notch or two and replace the spark plugs with some iridium plugs. What amount of increase should I look for on the fuel injectors? I was thinking about just a 5 lb increase, dont know how much this would help if any. Dont know much about fuel injectors. Also what type of gains if any can you get out of changing these. And lastly should I wait until I get my intake and exhaust systems installed to even think about replacing them? Thanks for the help!

None?

Theres no need for new injectors unless

(1) you have forced induction
and
(2) you can even tune the car to take advantage of new injectors

They wont give you any gains at all
Sorry to break it to you

bigger injectors without added airflow will decrease power, wont combust properly, i had a friend with an integra, he added bigger injectors and a venom fuel computer, he went from a high 14 or 15 sec 1/4 mile to 17, so not a good idea

The only way bigger injectors will help is if you have a built N/A motor with tuning or a built F/I motor with tuning. Otherwise, don't do it.

Yeah but not really necessary. Your stock plugs perform just fine and you probably will notice none or very little difference from switching them out.

As far as switching out the fuel injectors, 06cobalt said it the best..."won't combust properly". The reason it won't combust properly is cause you'll have too much fuel spraying and not enough air in the combustion chamber which will result in running rich. You have to understand how important your air/fuel mixture is. Dumping fuel will have an ill effect on the "explosion" in your engine.

Rule of thumb: The more air you're supplying a motor, the more fuel you'll (probably) need

I put the word probably because you don't really need bigger injectors if you're just changing your intake system but say if you were putting on a turbocharger which is going to be change your air supply extremely, than yes, you'll need more fuel.

Now since you're barely modified (if at all), fuel injectors are the last thing you need to worry about.

Also, just a tip...

When you start messing with fuel injectors and bigger sizes, you start messing with your base fuel pressure, duty cycle in the injectors and your computer. When you start messing with these things, you need ways to adjust them otherwise you could a very badly running motor to the point of it flooding out and it's not fun (trust me...I learned the hard way).

If you don't know anything about duty cycles or base fuel pressure and you don't know what they mean, just ask or look it up. You can reach me on ecotecforum.com if you want to ask me for help.

well you do need to know what your doing and you do need more air. then there is NO2. now you will need more fuel. What can you do? wet injection or dry. if you go dry you need more fuel to meet the demand. bam you need bigger injectors.

or you do cams, timing gears, or you do a turbo or what ever. you need to be able to tune. You all need to cry your heart out to HP TUners. then they will get moving on PCM capabilities for you.

and when they do I have injectors for you ..... 05' SS SC injectors. that is if the 2.4 ecotec jbodies dont pick it up first. they are using ford mainly but are now discovering us and want them.
