No such thing as a fuel upgrade kit in any sense. The only thing you can upgrade is the octane rating (the 2.2 is designed to run 87 or 89) or upgrading the injectors/pump and neither of those you need to do.

I believe you can simply install nitrous with regular gas...

you could by the terminator... no dont buy that jk, what kit are you running, and if its wet you dont really need anything,

but another question would be would the higher octane fuel help, or would it be a waste??

you could also buy a turbonator....lol...

Running higher octane will also do nothing for your cobalt, the 2.2 is designed to run on regular 87 pump gas. No need wasting 10 or 20 cents extra on 90+

you guys talk a lot of ****

the old-school guys used to have to replace their fuel pumps because they weren't designed for the increased demand of the fogger. in the case of the cobalt though (and most modern cars) you don't need to upgrade it for the size shot you're looking to run (35-75). if you were going with 100-150 shot direct port or higher, I would replace the pump with a stronger unit just for peace of mind.

fuel pressure regulator isn't going to do ****, don't waste your money. pressure is already 60psi at the rail anyway.

you need to run premium fuel while spraying, the higher the octane the better (resists knock and detonation). I run at least 93 in mine.

^^^^PWNED!^^^^^ he is absolutly right...as usual...higher octane of 91 plus is RECOMMENDED for nitrous use...they higher octane stabilizes the mix helping prevent detonation...i would spend the extra 10-20 cents when sprayin...unless you want to run the risk of getting a new engine

Simmons I wouldn't say Pwned as you had no say in the matter.

Its safe to run a lower octane to use nitrous, the 2.2 is designed to run 87, so if you want to run 93 in it all the time for the few times you run nitrous then go ahead. The schools drag cobalt we have only runs 87 with 75 shot, no problems.

so it would run better with the higher octane fuel, but what if you dont run it what is the chances that something could happen, i mean alot say that 87 will work but is it really bad not to use the higher octane, not trying to get a stupid answer i just want to know if anyone has really had a problem running lower octane

well 8cd03gro would you like to explain everything to me.

Why put in 93 gas everytime if your going to use the system once evey so fillups. The only advantage to running 93 is it reduces knock. Thats why its recommended.

no, it's not safe to run lower octane fuel with nitrous, by doing so you are greatly increasing a chance of failure via detonation. there are reasons that kit manufacturers recommend certain octane ratings. the "advice" you're giving out is false and just sounds like you're pulling it from thin air. your school's drag cobalt is probably tuned a bit differently as well from the stock tune. also, a lot of fox body guys I know would run 87 or 89 in the tank and a fuel cell filled with 110 for the nitrous fogger only. if that's what your school's cobalt is running it would make sense of the logic you're trying to put across.

anyway, again, you want high octane in your tank. if you use low octane, you will break something sooner or later. I've had it happen on many builds that people don't listen and try to cheap out, and then we get to go and have a fun teardown/rebuild later on.

and as stated, a can of octane booster does jack ****. 1 point = .1 increase in octane. you're better of buying a few gallons of toulene and mixing that to raise the level (has a rating of 115 octane).

bing bing bing! addatives are the biggest waste of money ever. They don't do anything other than possibly dillute your fuel supply and make your engine run worse. Never use addatives.

edit: if you want me to explain scientifically why octane booster doesn't work, i will. just uhhh ask me here or pm me it will just take alot of typing that i really don't feel like doing if nobody is going to read it.
