has anybody modded they're GMPP to be CAI??? well i have thought of buying the spectre pieces to make a whole CAI, but than i though, the spectre pieces heat up 2 quick, they get to hot, my gmpp is more heat resistant...so i did it...i took a 90 degree elbow, a 60 degree elbow, and a straight 6" to do it...

 

i really cannot stand that spectre stuff. as much i believe companies are overcharging for cai's..400bucks for some metal bent L-shaped, spectre is too ricey imho

you got a point about the CAI, unfortunately, Spectre does overcharge you if you buy one of theirs pre-built. However, if you can build it for yourself, I ran the numbers with a mockup kit and it would cost you about $150 of separate parts(tubes, connectors, filters, bends) which is a far cry from the $230 from the Injen, but considering you don't know how far back to place your MAF and the possibility of misjudging something, theres the risk you could run more than $150. Just FYI

 

how was the outcome? I'm just looking at the RKSPORT hood that works directly with the GMPP CAI, anyways..for now i have a COLD AIR intake that i made out of a tube for 10 dollars haha, it works damn good

 

where do you have your sensor going, im thinking about making a temporary one until i get mine.

 

well the CAI threw a CEL, so i took the car to work and deleted it, put the heat shield back on and im running a normal gmpp now...

 

what CEL did you throw? maybe there was just a leak somewhere? When i installed my GMPP got a CEL cuz part of the rubber tubing pulled away from the metal piping and i was getting a lean code.

BTW, do you happen to know the size of the neck on the filter? I am looking to rplace mine with an AEM and not sure what size it is. I know its a 5" element but I need the neck diameter

 

when i made my GMPP a CAI shortly after i also had this problem and threw a lean code, i took the CAI off and they figured out it was also the MAF that messed up.

 

yeah i threw the p0171, i deleted it twice at work, and finally decided to make it back toSRI, and it never came back...
