GMPP intake owners: I need your help

I have a K&N intake on an LS coupe, I need to pass smog in CA where the K&N is illegal...I know the GMPP is legal for CA street use and comes with a CARB sticker to present to a smog shop upon inspection. Can anyone that has the GMPP intake please take a picture of or scan the sticker that came with the intake, I need to make a fake tag for my K&N to pass the smog check.

Thanks!

are you serious? do they really get that into it in california?

a k&n filter shouldn't need a sticker to be proven to be legal, first off thats something I don't think anyone would be very likely to pick at, and secondly a k&n is a very common thing, anyone who looks under the hood of cars every day is going to know what it is, and know its totally legal.

Yeah, it's serious...the K&N intake says it's not legal for street use in CA. When the car gets inspected the intake will fail it. That's why I need a picture of the GMPP intake CARB certification, to make one and cover the K&N logo to pass it off as GMPP...I hate our stupid smog laws.

Even if you have the sticker, they will still test the car. With the intake it may or may not pass.

bro, the K&N looks NOTHING like the gmpp intake... i don't think you will pull that off, they train people in ca for what to look for. they see these things every day, all day. if you're that worried about it, go back to stock before you go for inspection. it can't take more than 10 or 15 minutes to put it on tops, and that's if you don't know what you't doing... i swapped out my intake and put the stock airbox on the other day in about 3 minutes.

dude if you try to pull that off it won't work. they may even press charges on you for trying, ca is crazy about that. you deffinately don't want that fine to pay off. just put the stock one back on for inspection its alot easier.

Yeah it sucks...

People, I just need a picture or even a description of the sticker, I'm not worried about getting busted for making fake stickers. Most smog shop guys are idiots, they won't know the difference between the K&N and GMPP anyways, especially if the K&N has badging removed with a CARB sticker copied from the GMPP stuck to it.

if you were in co, I would tell you don't waste your time with a sticker, just go get it tested. If ca is as bad as everyone is saying it is, just swap back to stock for the test. I used to swap my test pipe out with a cat once a year in an older car of mine for smog inspections once a year. If I can do that, you can swap your intake.

Note to sef: don't move to Ca.

hehe, our state/province is cancelling their smog tests. But currently doesn't make you do a smog check for 2005+ vehicles.

no on obd2 cars they just hook up a scaner, if you don't have codes you pass. but they also visualy look at all your emissions devices, idf you have aftermarket parts they look for the carb sticker. no carb sticker=no pass

Post picture or description or don't post at all, most of you have no idea how our emissions checks work, don't try to understand.

Where are you taking it for the smog? When I lived in cali, most places were just joe blow mechanics doing the smogs (gas stations and such) and there were plenty of places you could go and just pass the inspector a 20 spot and pass inspection, no questions asked.....

I don't know when you lived here but it's different now. Our cars have to pass a visual check (that's what the sticker is for) and then go onto dyno rollers and pull through the gears like normal driving with a sniffer in the exhaust. They even have a fan blowing on the front of the car to simulate air flow...the K&N intake won't make it fail the test, not having the CARB sticker will.

I also found a picture of the sticker, so I'm making something next week at work.
