GMTunersource

I know we have our basic bolt ons for this car but what about this

http://www.gm.com/company/gmtunersou...build_book.htm

anyone running any of these set ups well the 250hp and up I know that the supercharger has no tuning yet but what about internals has anyone done em yet on the 2.2's i would definately do this before I call hann's to get the turbo kit or go all N/a depending on budget and other factors

but I was wondering if anyone put in LSJ internals or the aftermarket ones response power problems

thanks in advance

Yes, I think that halfcent has done the internals. I think that with the lower compression pistons u will lose power not gain. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

What would you like to know? Check out my vBgarage to see my modifications. I have had no problems.

I have a set of the GMPP 10:1 ratio pistons for sale if you want to do this kind of a mod.

Halfcent, will the GMPP 10:1 performance pistons give us more power if we dont want to go with forced induction?

The problem with that book is that it gives you all the part numbers you need for damn near everything, as long as you own an SS/SC or a cavalier. Because the 2.2 cobalt computer isnt cracked getting a new head, cams, cam gears, and all that will only set your check engine light and put you into limp mode. Frustratin aint it

Thats partially true. If you do anything to fuel or ignition, the computer will get cranky. I have a full powertrain build-up, but nothing that effected those systems yet. I have a 3000 RPM stall torque converter, you can see the engine rev higher during accelerations, but that doesn't upset the computer. I have the reduced compression pistons, which has reduced the power of the engine, but that also has produced no problems. I have never once had a single CEL since my build.

I also have the GMPP adjustable can gears, but they are currently set at zero degrees, so thats just like stock. Once I get a tuning solution, then I'll play with them.

As for the earlier question, IonNinja was correct. You won't get any more power by replacing pistons with the same compression ratio. However, the pistons themselves are much stronger and can withstand up to 600 HP (according to GMPP). They would be IDEAL for nitrous or very high octane and high boost engines.

GM racing has always used stand alone FMU's, bypassing the stock E16 unit. This works great for racing, but not for street use.
