Go Catback? or just Muffler and Tip?

Hey, Im new here, I got a Cobalt LT 2.2, just tinted the windows and bought 18" ASA rims, got some money left over and was planning to put lowering springs, and an exhaust. Should i go for the Magna flow cat back? or just the muffler and tip? will i see any difference in performance? Thanx!

with a muffler you won't knowtice any difference in performance, just louder.

Catback will net 6 - 10 HP on average.

Warranty?

Will the intake void the warranty? I Know the catback wont... Also, does any1 have a link for the shorter antenna and what it looks like?

No an intake will not void ur warranty... it's the same as the exhaust but yet then it depends on the dealer... only if the intake can be directly linked to the problem then and only then it will void ur warranty, and don't worry about the cel if you get one right after install... it's prolly just a p0171 lean code, it goes on and off every other day in my cobalt...

Ive had my intake for a while now.. about 3 months or so, and 3k miles later, never had a problem with the CEL light... I dont really ever recall having anybody having problems with the Injen CAI, on the LS models... Then again I could be wrong..

redo your whole exhaust, no point in just cat-back if you arent going to turbocharge.
this includes the cat-back, header, and high flow cat.

I haven't run into this issue yet. It seems that the majority of people who bought Injen CAI/SRI intakes haven't seen a CEL light come on.

I definately suggest you don't go cheap with just a muffler and tip. That always drives me crazy seeing a car with nice wheels and such with just a big fat muffler/tip.

yeah dude, those muffler tips look nasty as hell. full cat-back will net you better gains when pair with a nice intake.

So I got a magna flow muffler to start, and next week getting the 2 1/4 piping done, which was recommended by the guy. Is there any way of lowering the sound of the muffler if i bring it back?

lowering the sound? Well if you're going to have a custom exhaust made, put a resonator after your cat.

you're going to need a resonator as well with that magnaflow muffler or its going to sound raspy

the 2.2L do a catback. But is you have the 2.4L do just a muffler. That is what I am going to do. The 2.4L already have a 2.5 exhaust from the headers to the muffler, then it drops down to 2.25. So I am doing a Magnaflow exhaust with a 2.5 inlet, and the will be equal to a catback. And cheaper too.
