goin for 13.99 1/4mi
i hav a 2.2L coupe auto w/ a injen CAI and 2.4L manifold, i'm tryin to hav to get atleast 13.99 in the 1/4mi by next summer! Next mod plans r a lsj exhaust manifold, 2.5" high flow dp, megan racing 2.5" exhaust, nitrous express 75shot, b&m shiftplus, stage 1 comp cams, and lightweight underdrive pulley plus a tune, which should run me bout $1500 which is the same as makin it sc but get more power. i calculated that out to be based on other 2.2L dynos to b about 175-180whp and between 240-255whp w/ the 75shot, will that b enough to get me there or will i hav to do more? want all helpful thoughts, suggestions, and time estimates
I would think you would want to get a 2.4 TB. Me personally I would only do a 50 shot just to stay safe. You won't need the shift plus if you get the Trifecta tune after all your mods. Make sure you run synthetic, that can free up a couple hp. I'd skip the DP.
i agree with most of the above, though i would still get the DP. I would actually just get a ZZP midlength combo. The LSJ stuff is indeed better, but not much better than stock.
Your expectations might be a little high. I'd say 220-230. Just like they said before, go with a larger tb and aftermarket header/dp.
Oh forgot to mention...SUPPORTING MODS!!! If youre going to be tracking it a lot with that kind of power you may want to look into a tranny cooler since you're an auto. Also get a solid motor mount and poly trans mount bushings to protect your axles from wheel hop. It's a killer.

though, you can always get some drag radials or really sticky track tires to help you out too
i doubt you would make that on a 75 shot.. stock motor i dyno'd 223whp 243tq on a 100shot with a 2.4 mani.. you can try it but setup your suspension first or your going to spin all down the track on spray.
supercharger and turbo set ups cost alot more and hav to b done all at once or u'll just hav useless parts sittin around, with this set up i can add parts when i can afford them and my cobalt is my dd so i dont need alot of power all the time so w/ nitrous i can turn it on and off when i want to use it

i got a few hook ups on gettin some of those items so it cost me less to go this way plus i want my car to b a sleeper so they would hear a supercharger on it but not nitrous, it would just sound like i had bolt ons
only if he engauges it too low in the rpm band.. i ran 12 bottles of 100 shot in my stock motor 2.2 just fine. no signs of detonation when i tore it apart this year.
but it doesnt blow engines because of knock, so you wont see detonation signs regardless. It blows because the rods literally cant take that much power.
You're right, he's safer spraying from a higher rpm, but i personally am still iffy about a 100 shot.
bravo to you then!

Quick question...you mention stage 1 cam...how does the nitrous react with a set of N/A cams? Will there be any issues there?
In my mind my car (since I'm auto), would have the following to try to achieve this time:
Injen CAI, 2.4 mani, 2.4 TB, ZZP midlength or vibrant header/dp, custom cat-back (2.5"), TTR tranny and motor mounts, tranny cooler, 75 shot (wet), as someone else stated drag bags or footballs, Sportlines with SS/TC struts/shocks, 16 or 17" lightweight wheels with 225 wide rubber, and a trifecta tune.
This would cost a lot more than $1500 to achieve, even with used parts or deals. You really should consider a turbo setup with low boost, just don't run into boost on a daily basis since you don't need the power and when you go to the track, turn it up a little. A few of the mods above would still be recommended of course. I believe that is going to be my plan...turbo rather than SC...I'm hoping for more MPG's when I stay out of boost as well.

^Yeah, that's just a list of what I would do if I wanted to TRY to achieve 14 flat NA...I would probably need to do a bit of weight reduction and also do something with the head to actually get the 14.
But I'm planning a low boost, decent power turbo setup (decent meaning 180-200whp...maybe a little more, but probably not).
