Just never heard good reviews on the SMT-6, maybe you or the others can shed light? That's the obvious question most people want answers for before placing an investment and learning something. Think of me as asking in the eyes of a newb but not necessarly being a newb.

Seriously you need to understand what the SMT-6 does and how it does it. When you say it doesn't work it's obvious that you don't understand it.

You know why the timing stuff doesn't work, because someone with a 2.2 hasn't sent the Power Perfect guys a scope output of the CKP signal. Thats why it doesn't work for that (last time I checked)

The SMT-6 is a freaking awesome piggy back device, and just because a vendor couldn't get it to work on a Cobalt LSJ using like 5% of it's real functionality doesn't mean it won't work on a 2.2 that doesn't even have the completely different engine MGT solution.

The SMT-6 can do so much and it only costs like 400 bux, infact it can do like 10 times what my 400 dollar DTEC from Turbo XS can do.

Back up your it doesn't work arguement with some examples...

That looks a lot like the Turbo XS UTEC. Lots of WRX, STI, EVO and 350z guys have great sucess with those.

For the last time.. I have a general understanding... I'm not bashing the unit. I just know that it's not used very heavily by most people on here. It's arguemental points. Everyone has a different feel and opinon on it. That's like me saying you dont understand your car, you do but at the same time you don't.

I'm coming on here trying to be truthful about some things and everyone jumps on the band wagon. For christ sakes leave it.

It can and it did. Instead of everyone saying that it wont work and not really knowing why, just call john at alpine. I guarantee you john will blow your mind on how much he knows about the SMT-6 and the 2.2ltr. I didnt install it, i really dont know much about it except what its doing to my car. I can also tell you there is a 2 bar map sensor that i can even go take a picture for you and show. It runs off a vacuum line that comes off the intake manifold.

I am supporting your assertion that it could work

I know bud, i wasnt talking about you Just some people say this either doesnt work or that the people who did it dont know what they are doing. This kit is designed for the daily driver. Its actually tuned already for up to 15psi of boost. All that needs to be done is pistons/rods. I saw the fuel maps and injector maps myself, im even getting the tuning software in a week or so, and going to check it out, get to know it better so when i do find that time, i can tune it for my location. Also, something that the SMT-6 can do is take over the 4 main injectors. So once i need to buy a custom made intake manifold, i wont be using the 5th injector setup anymore, ill have the smt-6 hooked up to 4 42 or higher injectors and just supply the fuel that way.

What some of you have not realized, is how much alpine actually put into this kit. John has specifically picked that turbo because its not too large. He took into account the CFM it puts out, the compressor map for the engine, length of pipe used for the intercooler and soo much more. The guy is a genius and the parts for this kit are not cheap. They actually have their own casting facility.

Well, we are highly off topic at this point. But to simply answer your question, yes. HP tuners does support the ECM in your 2007.

LOL this thread is something else LOL

Its pretty simple...SMS tried to sell the turbo kit and failed...BECAUSE it was over priced and lacked communication with the customer on tuning....

Now to sum all this up...
Bolt up the turbo...wire in the SMT-6... clear codes... and done... As for the dyno chart it was set on Zero Smooth so it looks choppy, allot of dynos look choppy on Zero Smooth...

As for it being safe and reliable and legal... its all three...Also here is the beauty...you buy this Alpine kit...HPT or SCT or Diable come out with tuning...dump the SMT-6 on Ebay or keep it for Data logging (watch air/fuel curve, timing...etc i am sure hpt and sct and diable will have that function) and then tune with the 3 major companies and your golden...

the kit is good up to 300hp! the "HARDWARE" is very clean and to be honest it should of came from the factory this way...John from Alpine is a huge developer for kits for say TRD Superchargers...so when customers go to TRD performance website and buy a supercharger kit for there Tacoma they are reallying buying it from John...but the dealerships performance division makes the sale...

So he designs kits for that purpose to have it so clean and reliable that dealerships can sell the kits...just like SMS...funny part is i am talking with Chevy dealerships to sell this same kit you can get from alpine direct...so if Chevy picks it up then you would need to buy it from them just a FYI...

So the kit is solid and again i posted else where that you can talk crap all day long about the kit till you take it for a spin and drive it then you will change your mind...hell i didn't like sushi for the longest time and swore i would NEVER eat it no matter what...till i tried it and then got hooked!

So i say don't bag it till you try it...for any guys in Boise he will be more then happy to take you for a ride!

Also i will admit i was like...ppfftt this turbo cobalt is going to be lame...and i took it for a drive and i was like"WHAT THE FUUUU" and then realized...uuuhhh 8psi and there is allot to go! DAMN!

pm me if you have questions or call me my number is on the board somewhere!

Worthless huh? Like your post to a comment I made how long ago?

Why don't you stop being worthless and actually learn something and attempt to make your own turbo setup instead of sitting on your fingers whinning saying "I need fast" like your ******* Tarzan.

And funny that I'm 99% sure I know more about your car than you do and I DON'T EVEN OWN A COBALT!

But of course making your own kit would take effort and research...I forgot...nevermind...I shouldn't have even suggested that to a whiney Cobalt owner who wants every part and information spoonfed to them.

******* fanb0i...

w0rd...

I just get kind of aggrevated when someone who evidentally knows **** about me or what I have done here to try and help the Cobalt community that because I don't have a Cobalt I shouldn't have an opinion. I wish someone would have told me that when I recieve random private messages, IMs and sometimes E-mails asking me my OPINION for their vehicle.

So someone to call me "worthless" can essentially go **** themselves. Or I can say it Tarzan style so he understands "****...you....now...."
