a turbo is basically a fan pointed toward the intake. The fan is turned by exhaust from the head. since it's run by exhaust and there's friction, the turbo heats up and makes the air blowing toward the intake hot. An intercooler cools the air down so it's denser.

You could run an intercooler on an intake system that doesn't use a turbo... but it would create more loss than gain...

I'm new to this and getting deep into my car because my father use to soop up my thunderbird before I got this cobalt. I'm honestly trying to upgrade and enhance the performance without my dad, so if any one has any helpful ideas and hints, please let me know. In the area where I live, nobody has a cobalt,so I'm trying to catch some serious attention.

seen it, here's my issue, blowers are much more limited power-wise than turbos. it is cheaper to add boost to a turbo plus can go a lot bigger with much less engine bay room used. It's all in what you want to do with the car.

and to the damon14, boost a base model and start running some SRT's and Evos and you'll catch attention REAL fast

You'll probably come out with the same amount of money spent as the SS/SC all together to be honest.

Don't use the SS/SC as your goal opponent, focus outside the deltas, you guys gotta stick together around here lol. Now beating an SRT-4 is much funner

Yeah they paid for premade performance... we get to do it ourselves, much more satisfaction/pride. Plus it would be "oh, its just an LS", then smoke 'em with the sleeper turbo.
