Head Differences/Issues

So I recently had to replace my head, i picked up another L61 head but it is different then the one i have, it bolts to the block the same it seems but certain things are different. it has the EGR holes in the back by exhaust outlets and the intake cam looks like it should be longer, my cam parts don't swap over and the cam position sensor is not in the same place.

The casting number on mine is 12583133, and the casting number on the one i got is 12580074

Is their a way to make it work with my setup? so i don't have to buy yet another head?

here is pictures to show differences first 2 are the new head, 2nd two are my old head? Can somone explain to me whats going on and what i can do?

Looks like you got an old ecotec head... I don't know if there is anyway to make the old ones work on the newer cars....

Oh wow you have an 08? Yeah I don't think that head will work.

The new head doesnt have an Intake Cam Sensor location cuz they didn use one, the end is different because its designed to accept a power steering pump, the slots below the exhaust ports are for secondary air injection.

I Don't think an lsj has a cam sensor so you'll be right back where you are now. Jut get one for your year and it'll be fine.

LSJ does have a cam sensor but its on the exhaust cam.

And that is a J-body L61 head, noted by the intake cam driven power steering pump and the egr port still being in the casting.

Its not likely a Jbody head as it doesnt have the EGR valve boss on the drivers end of the head.

BUT it does have the hook up for the intake cm driven power steering so it cant be a cobalt. Unless you guys just have a blockoff plate.

Every 2000-2006 L61 head has the PS boss on it, regardless of what vehicle it was in.
