i hear CA is good but sometimes it might rub on a coolant line. right now my setup is the SS/SC manifold/downpipe, which works very nicely, made it sound amazing, keeps the cat, bolts right on, and cost me like 60 dollars each from members. haha. its the best bang for your buck.

pacesetter is actually decent quality... people just talk **** about it because it's not stainless steel...

i have the ca downpipe, i'm happy with it, and would recommend the same.

that would be the CA header....i ordered it a long time ago and its good quality. i sent it back cause it was hitting the coolant pipe and they are sending me the new designd header as soon as it gets in.

zzp, i think that is the setup i have decided on, looks like excellent quality and not overly expensive for the dp/h combo

This is correct, get the ceramic coated header from pacesetter, they are high quality. They have improved huge in the last few years, and are the # 1 prefered header to the J-Bodies.

IMO ceramic coated is better than stainless. As the ceramic does more functions than the stainless, which just looks nice... Ceramic keeps the heat down.

i know ceramic is better, but my main problem with the pacesetter is it doesnt fit, you need to cut and weld it to get it to fit, and i have heard many people complain about leaks and throwing codes...so idk

if it doesn't fit, it's because it wasn't installed properly. it's a long tube header, so you have to cut the dowpipe.

and then weld them together right?? I just think direct bolt on would be much easier and prolly less chance of something going wrong...I have nothing against pacesetter its just the amount of negative things i have heard have outweighed the positives for the header, so it seems like i would be playing like a "wait and see game" to see whether it works out great or causes me problems

never got one from the dowpipe. i waited a few hundred miles before really pushing it, but i had to drive alot for work so that 500 miles was like 3 days. i go wot every now and then, i don't floor it every time i drive though.

Personally, I'd rather buy a quality stainless header that isn't coated and then wrap it with a header wrap than to by a non-stainless coated header. CA first made a header with a 2.25" collector and now they should have a 2.8" collector header available. Other companies make headers with 2.5" or 3" collectors.

Im not wdsoccer but i also have s ShiftPlus and love the thing. I drive around town with it on stage 1 all the time. It feels so much better. I can't wait to see what difference it makes on the track.

Back to the subject now. Is there any headers out there that are direct bolt on that do not require you to modify the downpipe?

i actually ordered them from members on here. you can find people selling their stock ss stuff for cheap, but i think if you order them from GM they arent too much more expensive. they fit right on the car. the only difference is the pipes are bigger. if you take a look at the collector on the SS manifold and the LS manifold, they are way different. but yes they bolt directly on. pretty much the same engine.

if they do then why do all the companies say they don't??? everyone on the forum says there interchangeable, but when i call the plaaces to ask questions they say just for the SS...i just don't want to buy something and then go to put it in and it doesnt fit or something....just confuses me lol
