header/dp recommendation

I tried a seach already and found nothing extremely helpful. So I'm gona ask you guys what you think would be a good header and downpipe combination to go along with a Magnflow cat-back exhaust, with 2.25 piping. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance..

I have the Vibrant setup and love it. I've heard also that you can't go wrong with the midlength ZZP setup.

It also depends where you want your powerband.

Longtube = low end

Midlength = midrange

Shorty = high end

But any one of these should give you some gains throughout the powerband.

hrmm... good to know. So does the header/dp make an exhaust sound deeper or what?

aye, vibrant is one of the best, but one of the most expensive. if you have the money, go with vibrant. but if you are like me and not alot to spend, im trying to go with a ss/sc downpipe. i have a 07 G5. the downpipe will be like 45 bucks or something i think. get the header honed from ss/sc and that will be like 125 or something i think idk on the header, just guessing.

If I had the $$$ I would have gotten the Vibrant Setup but I ordered the Obx Stainless Mid-Lenght Header to go with my LSJ Downpipe and GMPP Touring. I'll post my review after it's installed

$125??? I got my ss/sc header for $40 from a member here and will soon be getting a ss/sc dp for less than $40. Dude... I am trying to sell my 2.2 header for $35, If you are having it ported out you could get it and have the same work done since the outside part of the cast is exactly the same as the ss/sc header I might even be able to do it at school for you for free depending on what machines are not taken. Had I known that the outside casts were the same I woulda just ported mine out. Check my siggy for the forsale thread if youre interested. Also I dont know of anyother oem header for sale here that is beadblasted(look at the pics in the thread).

i wasnt sure how much the manifold is. i did hear that the 2.2 07s were the same size as the ss/sc but wasnt sure. how much would you charge to hone that stock 2.2 one that you have? would be cheaper if i get that one honed than buying a vibrant combo or something. how far you live from me? my zip is 23188. Williamsburg just wondering.

did you feel a good gain when you put the ss/sc mani in? or the same cause its basically the same?

Yeah the 07's got the good mani. I would only do like... 35+20=$55 for honed. I will ask my teacher if we have time in the simester to do it since we only have about a week and a half left. If I do it I will chem-bath it so there arent random metal chunks in the mani.

If we dont have time I could sell it to you for $35 and you could go to a machine shop and have them hone it out(unless they have a flex hone refer to it as polishing or they will laugh at you because flex honing isnt well known), it will probably cost you $40-60 for the machine work since it is about a 45 min job if they do it and clean it up nice.

Install takes about 20 min but removing your old one(especially the bolts to the downpipe) will take about 45 min. You can do it your self with a few wrenches/sockets and a o2 sensor wrench/socket.

And I have no clue about our distance but on ups.com it will cost me $12 to ship to you from 28311.

So think about it bro, roughly 7 hp for under $100 or 15 hp for over $700.

Will the Vibrant header/downpipe combo fit properly on the 2.2L? I talked to Vibrant and they said it wouldn't because the LSJ is tilted back from the supercharger??? I'd love to use that header/downpipe combo...........
