hey. to answer ur question, i would go with synthetic. it helps lubricates ur engine longer and better. its also cheap. i go to walmart, 22 bucks for 5 quarts of mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30. the filter is like 6 bucks. if u go to other places they sell synthetic oil for like 30+ bucks. also, it all depends on u when u want to change it. i leave the oil in my car for like 6000 miles, and the oil is still decent when i change it. also, when u run synthetic oil, u extend the life of ur engine because its running "better" so to speak. i hope this helped.

I use Royal purple in my 2.2 made a huge difference in the feel of the car, was like wow.. its purple colored to

The engine does feel smooter and has a much better sound to it.. doesnt sound like bolts banging around.. its hard for me to explain but I love my RP oil. isnt cheap though like everyone here said.. its like 7ish a quart down here in PA... i get filters though for like 4 bucks since my fiancee works at the local stores..

And RP guarentees a horsepower/torque inscrease which i dont member how much, but my car felt a difference when driving, pulled a little harder..

I use 5w30

Royal Purple FTW!!!

I get mine changed for me at my dealership for less than that. $21.XX How can you call that cheap? And I don't have to get dirty.

if i was getting an oil change that cheap i would be scared. What kind are they putting in? Probably the cheapest shittiest oil they can find if you are having it done that cheap. i always do everything myself to make sure it is done right! warranty work is the only exception to that.

I don't think you have anything to worry about getting your oil changed at the dealership. Oil is oil, whether it's cheap or not. It's really not as big of a difference as people make it out to be as long as you keep it changed within a reasonable time period.

oops, missed the dealership part i would have to disagree with you on that. I would stay the hell away from penzoil and q-state regular (idk about synthetic) because every engine i have come across where the owners used that there was major sludge. Like on my old daktoa, had 79k miles when i got it, contacted the old owner, he said he changed the oil every 3-4k miles (found the stickers in the glove box to prove it) and i asked what kind of oil (cuz there was sludge and **** in there) he said pennzoil. Aunt and uncle had a keep grand Cherokee, they used q-state and they had engine sludge badly. I do not trust those 2. Sorry but oil is not oil, some are refined more some are just plain ****.

I new someone who used castrol GTX and had mad problems with his motor, he found out it was the oil.. i can get that stuff for 2 bucks a quart at my fiancees work.. i wish they had royal purple there... oo well my filters are still cheap tho there

I do my own oil changes to.. i member when i first put in royal purple in last month you could smell that **** when the engine ran, was like wow smelly, loved the smell though lol.. Then the smell went away after a day of driving.. i plan to change out the tranny with the royal purple and power steering fluid with it and the coolant with it also.. plus i want that damn purple hat that the company sells for 8 bucks..

if ya havnt been able to tell, i like purple

The same oil that they put in just about every other car they service. I have had zero issues with the engine. Have yet to have trouble at the dealership either. Have done about dozen oil changes for us over the years. And when I have a problem, they actually solve it. Kept my car for 3 hrs looking for a creak in the rear end and found it, then showed me what was wrong. And never once blamed my Progress sway bar.

If you want it done real cheep (and potentionally wrong) take it to Wallmart, know a few people that have and had their oil plug stripped.

Personal experience.
After I got new tires at Walmart, my rotors got warped right afterward. My guess is that they tightened the wheels too tight and helped warp the rotors.

for the maybe 3-5hp increase, i Highly doubt that you would feel the difference of the oil. Dont get me wrong, synthetic is the way to go, but the gains you will see from better lubricants (tranny fluid, engine oil etc). you probably will not notice the difference. You will on the other hand, increase the life of the components and reduce wear.

i would rather change my oil earlier than later... and who doesnt recycle their oil anyways?
