Help With Headers?
i was looking at the headers that this guy here on cobaltss.net said would fit my car and i called the store and the guy said that its only for 2.0, what should i do, who should i believe, thank u let me know
but they are all interchangeable.
the only issue i can think of is this, and im not sure if its even correct: the stock ss s/c header has a bung on it for a sensor that the LS doesnt have, so a ss s/c header would need a bung plug to fit on a 2.2 without an exhaust leak....anyone verify this?
yes thats correst. i put the 2.0 header on mine and had that problem with the hole. still need somethin better than the bolt a have in it right now. any ideas?
Surely you can get a plug that's short enough to work but it will need a gasket in order to keep it from leaking. Perhaps an oil drain plug with a metal gasket.
dont they sell bung plugs?

Yes, you can get a gasket at an automotive parts store. Yeah, your bolt, just like the O2 sensor has to have a gaket!!

Also, it would be better to use a plug (bung or oil) with a full flat round surface under the hex head in order to achieve maximum sealing against the gasket as opposed to just a regular old hex head bolt (if this makes any sense).

The way my car came was with the 2.0 manifold with a plug in the manifold. The sensor was still in the downpipe. The sensor plug that it came with had no gasket, but seals air tight. I checked.
Here's a pic of the plug in my dp.
07 LS cobalts are supposed to come with the same exhaust manifold as the 05-07 SS/sc cobalt.

The 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4 have the same bolt patterns.
