help with vibrant exhaust
i just needed to know a few things about it.
1-does it sound good?
2-will it fit my car?
(i have a stock 2.2l i dont beleive a 3" cat back will bolt striaght up. if not is there like a adapter or something i could buy or would i have to buy a 3" down pipe)
3-is a 3" cat back too big for 2.2l na AND WHY!
(i hear it has stuff to do with exhaust vlocity or what not. im not looking to get like alot of hp i was wondering if it would still give me SOME gains and the sound.)
bump

yea but if it will work and i can keep it im going turbo after highschool. some people go on cruzes and **** for graduation.... im boosting the **** out of my car
3" it's going to give a better sound on a stock car... it's a waste of money there's a reason there's one with a different size... the 3" one will probably also cause you to lose hp (definately low end possibly over all ) it might give you 1 or 2 peak HP because of the less restriction but it's no good for the car
you'll be louder and have more drone due to the piping diameter the 2 3/8 one will bolt right up and will give you a much better sound..
well even after your turboed you still probably wont need a 3" exhaust go turbo first.. get a redline or ss/sc or 2.4 L cat back for now that'll give you a good sound and some performance for the time being and now run you about 800 bux

from my experience, vibrant sounds like a chainsaw. especially when you put the header and downpipe. and 3" is way too big. first off, it won't connect to your downpipe. you're going to lose power with it as well. and on an otherwise stock 2.2, the last thing you want to do is intentionally lose power.
and you're right, it's about the exhaust velocity. if anyone mentions that you need backpressure, don't take any exhaust advice from them. but with a 3", you will lose so much velocity that the engine actually has to work harder to get the exhaust out of the car. the engine is pushing the air out faster than it's getting out the exhaust, so the "waves of air" start hitting each other, slowing down the flow. best bet is to get a 2 1/4" exhaust, or if you plan on doing some more work, biggest i would go is 2.5"
