i was drving along today and noticed that i hit 220f. whats the highest temp i can hit before etting worried. driving the 2006 LS coupe.

 

In some cases it will hit 230-ish before the fan starts to cool it, and you're not damaging anything until well over 260. Don't worry, be happy!

 

Yea, theres a red light that comes on when it gets too hot LAWL. When I cracked my radiator and had 0 fluid the red light came on arround 250 ish. Saw it go as high as 260.

 

Ya dont worry, i hit like 225-30 after racing my friend and it was fine, but thats what i get for tryin to race a supercharged dakota rt thats pushin 400 horses

 

exact same thing happened to me today...2006 LS coupe hit 223...it was the first time i passed 210

 

dont worry it happens....no need to freak till about 240ish

 

Yeah if you start creeping into the 245 range you can always just turn your A/C on. When the A/C is running the fans are running and the fans will cool it down quick.

 

it's fine... i bet you were sitting in traffic... once you start moving again it will go back down... mine normally sits around 189-200 in normal driving... traffic it will go up to as much as 220-ish...

 

My SS/SC usually runs around 180 but for the past week it has been pushing 200.

But it still runs fine.

Mine sits around 180 - 190 normally... when sitting in traffic, especially when it is 80 or hotter out, it will easily creep up to 225 - 230 till the fans kick on. My buddy has an 06 Base Balt and his normal range is like 190 - 200.

 

My Cobalt hits 220 in the summer in stop and go traffic. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

 

i have seen mine get to over 200 befor. but when i check it most the time its like at 190 ot something like that

 

say thats good to hear mine usually sit in the 180s but with this horrible traffic in orlando i saw in on wednesday creep to almost 230. so good to hear its all good for atleast another 15 degrees lol.

 

Oh and the magic number is the one that it reads when the motor stops and wont turn over annymorrre.......LOL just teasing its late
