hole on tranny

well i was changin my oil today and i noticed something i never saw before, i saw a rectangular cut on my tranny inside i could see a gear looking thing...does everyone have this? i dont see what the thing could be for, but i have pics of it, its on the driver side of the tranny along the bottom of it:




i tried a search...search hole in tranny got nothin of use...

The thing with teeth is your flywheel, and thats where your starter pinion engages to start the car. That hole is there to vent the clutch and flywheel, its suposed to be there.

there should be a plastic cover over that, its an inspection hole.

there is no cover, its supposed to be there. all thats inside is clutch/pressure plate/flywheel. no fluid or anything like that so it doesnt need to be closed.

people always get freaked out by this, lol...

its just your flywheel, its probably there to vent out heat from the clutch... like someone said

yeah mine has no cover either...doesnt even look like one would go there

start it up and stick things in .. cut bolts , make wood chips with old tree branches.. put in soap and water and see if you can make bubbles..

them teeth look clean i bet mine are burnt and rusty,.. or missing every second one.
