Yea intakes create a sweet ass sound...mine...****.....if i hit the pedal and let it go quick...sweet ass sucking sound...even though that sounds bad, it sounds GREAT!! sometimes sounds like a turbo, just cuz of a lil whistle...but w/e...cant wait to sell my car and get a cobalt ls...and work on that...12k....gettin 7500 for it...900 extra parts...8600 down payment at least...only 3400 more to pay for it completely!

Damn, so many things I want to do to my next car...but my rents will be pissed if I void warranty....

Hey, even though this car is like 1 year old, any engine problems? besides clutch going?

yeah it took me a second to find it too. i knew i didnt need it but its always good to know if you ever decide to go cai. they should have said in the directions the spacer is for cai setup only. i can see some ******* dropping the spacer in and driving off with the car on the sri with the spacer just sitting in there.....lol

Doesn't it makes sense that you'd get better gains from what goes INTO your engine that OUT?

i would guess here that it is the combination of the intake and exhaust that adds the power. usually there isnt a major difference between one or the other. if you werent expressing interest in a turbo, i would recommend a nice ceramic header.

SRI and CAI, what are the major differences?
Prices look about the same.
As do gains...

am I thinking of something else?

Something like the Injen setup offers both SRI and CAI in one package, you can convert it whenever you want. SRI has its advantage because it is shoter piping, although once there is constant pulling of air through the tube, I don't see how it makes any difference how long the tube is.

CAI's advantage is that it is sucking in "cold air" from outside instead of the heated air from under your hood.

Most people go SRI because they are scared water will get in their CAI but I don't think that is a problem with a Cobalt's setup unless you literally get a flood or drive the car into a lake.

i doubt i would gain any more hp/tq from cai setup. i installed it shrot ram cause it didnt involve ripping the face off my car and imo it's just as good. throttle response is on the money now and it revs quick low to mid range rpm which has helped me on the line.

I think it pretty much comes down to what you think looks better under the hood. You like the look of pipe going down or a large filter.
