no not necessarily

if that were the case then why does a header net more gains than an intake and exhaust combined? thats not taking air into the engine...

it would seem to me that the more gases you can expell the more quickly your engine can bring in new air...but I'm no expert.

Regarding like the 2nd post in this thread:

The pacesetter header and vibrant high-flow cat are actually out. The high-flow was around 89$ and the pacesetter ceramic coat was around $250 or so, can't really remember as it's been since Jan.

It also doesn't really matter what net gains you get from individual parts, it's how well everything works together and the end gains that make it all worth it.

i think the sri is better for throttle response, looks, ease of install and from what ive tested after runnign the car pretty hard i open the hood and there is really not much hot air inside at all so i think it wouldnt be a gain to go cai in this car specifically

my question would be to you...why would you pay $230+ to not use everything included. I know for one I'm not gonna pay $230+ for a short ram intake and let the rest of the tubing collect dust.

there is a small performance gain but for the price of the intake in the first place you better take advantage of everything you are paying for.

Im not sure how the rainy season is here inf florida but i moved from ATL and when it rained ... IT RAINED!!!!! If there isnt much difference in performance from sri to cai(even though id probably go with the bypass valve) Id rather not take my chances. If something can go wrong lol it usually does for me lol

From what I've gathered from observing here, and research. This info is all from Injen:

SRI:
quicker throttle response
HP gain: 7-8
TQ gain: 6-7

CAI:
slower throttle response than SRI
HP gain: 12-17 (performance varies)
TQ gain:12-15 (perf varies)

so take your pick, but the injen includes both, so if you have a rainy season, change to SRI, if you live in dry weather area, go for CAI.

From what I've seen from Cobalts, it is pretty hard to get water into the CAI the way it is enclosed behind everything. You would have to drive the front end into 5 feet of water.

pretty much, its located just inches under the passenger headlight area and is enclosed by a cover on the bottom of the bumper and wheel well lining.

There are two things that could get moisture into that area....a flood where the water is roughly 1.5-2ft deep or heavy road spray (would only get a lil misty..no biggy)...

for one, i dont plan to use my car as a boat...and 2, its not going to hurt with just a slight bit of mist in the area..thats why theres a filter on it...

Exclamation Well, to be accurate

Injen claims to add an additional 8.4HPon the 2.2L and Corsa tells me that their system on the 2.2L adds an additional 8-10HP. If he remove the exhaust and left on the intake it would likely feel just the same as the exhaust with the factory intake; it's the combination of the 2 that makes the umph!!

That's my take.

The only thing that's stopping me from getting a corsa/injen is that I just dropped $40 on the K&N drop in. Dumb move. It's a great filter to be sure, but now I want MORE POWER! should have saved the dough and gone SRI.

Oh well.

The SRI Vs. CAI debate has been on going since these things were released.

What I would do (and what I did) is try out both set ups for about two weeks, and then YOU decide which set up you like better.

Personally for me it was the SRI, but others like the CAI.

Try them both and you be the judge! It only took me 30 minutes with improper tools to change between the two. So try them out!

All it means is that the stock exhaust isn't quite as restricted as the stock air intake. Thus more gains with the air intake, than the exhaust.

Yeah, I think you're just excited about modifying, which is a good thing don't get me wrong, but what you're experiencing is nothing like a turbo...trust me.

Good luck modifying in the future.
