How do you remove the engine cover?

Sorry for the noob question. I'm just wonder how you remove the plastic engine cover on the 2.2 LS. Do you just pull it off or are there some screws holding it in somewhere? I looked all around it but couldn't find anything. I'm afraid to just start tugging on it.. but maybe thats what I need to do. Please help

remove the oil filler cap thing, and then just pull up and it will come off.

the engine cover is there to just make it look cleaner? or is it un-needed?

I believe the foam on the underside of the cover is designed to melt in the event of an overheat and sieze up your engine before it catches fire. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
