How much abuse does the stock clutch take?

I was just wondering how well these clutches last. Ive noticed the SS/SC guys have had lots of problems, most since day one. I was just wondering what point u had to get to before change the clutch was a must. mod list in the sig. thx!

i am starting to need one now lol, but according to a thread you should be shifting 3k or higher. I had been shifting normally around 2k.

Yeah I haven't had a problem with mine, but I dont have any "BIG" mods yet....I also shift pretty high aswell which does make a differance IMO.... normal shifts are at 3-4K for me....and it gets opened up lots and does get driven pretty hard sometimes.

06Pursuit, I dont think you will have a problem until you run a bigger power adder like nitrous or forced induction, even than I think their are a few 2.2s running 50 or 75 shots with no problem....

IIRC there is tuning now aviable for the 2.2 and there are turbo kits released already.... IMO i wouldnt really worrie about the clutch unless you are pushing some bigger numbers or start having more serious problems.....

Well taking into consideration that this was my first car and first time driving clutch. My clutch is still lasting me. Before I seen the 3k shift thread, I was shifting at the first shift light. That was for about 2k miles. So yea once power gets into the equation, slippage will be the product.

I beat my car/clutch like that bitch that she is! In fact, I destroyed my stock Transmission. I should be in prison for Car Abuse.... and I've had absolutely no problems with my clutch! I never shift below 3K either.

We have the F25. And I would doubt that the LT tranny is stronger... BUT I've been wrong before.

it doesn't really matter what rpm you shift at as long as you do it smoothly

45000 miles of abuse and no problems with my clutch. Car started getting mods with 1000 miles on it. mods in sig. 20+ 1/4 miles runs. I think alot of people with clutch problems are burning them up because of bad driving. Just my 2cents.

please dont give wrong info... there IS NO tunning for the 2.2 ECU. all kits are using piggybacks. garret says they have a tuned yet it has not released yet. no proof nothing.

the only time I've had issues with the clutch slipping is when I'm on nitrous and I try feathering the clutch on a 3K launch.

Other than that...its good for the power levels we're capable of at this point.

Ive got an 05 SS/SC with a 3 inch pulley, AEM cai and just a muffler... Ive got 27000 miles on it. The first 5000 miles were bad and lots of clutch slipping cause i love doing burnouts.. I ruined the front tires within months... Now on my second set i still burn um way too much but with shifting it aroun 3500 -4000 i have no slipping at all... About to get my 60lbs. and 2.7 on and im positive my clutch will still hold up!!!!!!!
