Interesting Find

So I noticed my oil was leaking from the top on the back side of the motor, so I figured the valve cover gasket was bad. Well I pulled the valve cover and was cleaning the head so the gasket would sit good and what do I find, a crack that is in the back on the driver side that is an inch long. Also I noticed a chunk of metal sitting in the top, so I searched some and found one of my rocker arms completely devastated. Has anyone else had this issue?

It didnt feel to have a loss of power, it did have a minor lifter tick for a while but it had gone away. It was just recent that it felt as if it were misfiring so I added sea foam to the oil, gas, ran some through the vacuum line, and replaced the plugs. Now it feels to be running fine. Im pretty sure what happened was I was racing a friend and shifted from 6300 rpms in 3rd into 2nd gear, but I dont see how this would affect the integrity of the head like it did.

So I pulled the valve cover yesterday and patched the crack up with some quick steel, so it stopped leaking oil and now its burning oil, I guess thats the lesser of two evils though because atleast its not leaving huge oil spots everywhere I park it.
