Internals

ok so i'm at the point where i'm planning on putting down hopefully around 250-270 whp on my car. it's already putting down 210 w/ 3.065" pulley on a supercharged 2.2 w/ stock internals. i'd just like some input as to what you guys think would be best. i plan on doing blower cams... here's the description
-Blower Applications 2600-6800 RPMS, .423 intake and .419 exhaust valve lift, 252 intake and 256 exhaust duration advertized (210 intake and 212 exhaust @ .050" duration). Hydraulic Roller-Street applications, good mid-range, works best with computer modifications.

along with those, i know i'm going to be needing valve springs. i plan on getting zzp's 82# valve springs, will those be good to go with those cams and power i plan on putting?

lifters... are they necessary? and where can i get them?

going to go with wiseco pistons and eagle rods

arp head studs obviously...

head gasket.. should i get an oem one or cometic or what?

is there anything else i should look into as far as building her up?

also, i know i'm gonna need bigger injectors and drop a couple more pulley sizes. does anyone have the ecotec build book that shows the limits of all the components as far as hp goes?

I say let the engine go then build. You can survive 250 whp on stock internals

210/.85=247hp... i'm already pushing it, i'd rather do preventative with my rods and pistons before they blow up and **** other things up...

also, ryan told me not to blow up my car lol

add a turbo with pistons, rods, 2.4 intake mani and valve springs . All you really need and could make some nice power.

i want to turbo swap, but i think it's gonna be a little later in the car's life to do the swap from SC to TC now. not sure... i'll have quite a bit of disposable income in may, but that's where my internals are coming from... how much are you putting down with the ion?

Don't forget a clutch...everything else sounds good to me. OEM gasket should be fine.

LOL Aaron I know. I've bought quite a few things through you guys. I probably will end up going through you for the Cams if i decide to do them, along with arp head studs and the cometic head gasket. As for the other things, I'm not sure because price matching some companies is going to make you guys take a steep loss. Btw, I love my ttr rear bar

i already got it from the link above, thanks though

so let me get this straight. the only things i need to technically replace is the rods and pistons when going that high of hp? and then valve springs only if i'm gonna be revving over 7k? according to that build book anyhow

you can make nice numbers off an LNF stock turbo and exhaust mani if you were to do pistons and rods. Then just get some ebay charge piping, a decent intercooler, bigger injectors....prob be in the neighborhood of 330whp depending on what size injectors you get. I'd personally go with 80s just to be on the safe side. You'd prob be closer to 350whp with turbo cams. Of course you're going to need a boost controller, boost gauge, and a wideband and a few other nicnacs but it'd totally be worth it. Especially since you can find the take off kits for around $500 in classifieds and that tiny turbo will spool very quickly. You will also have more torque than you would if you were supercharged.

i already am supercharged. that's my dilemma... just did it 2 months ago. i'd rather not do a tc swap too soon i spose. with cams, would the ones i want work for either sc or tc if i decide to do it? again, i don't plan on going over 7k revs.

Ah, gotcha. and nah, SC cams are meant for supercharged vehicles and tc cams are meant for turboed vehicles. You could just wait and determine what you're going to do before you buy them. Springs are needed past 7k not cams. Cams just give you better lift and valve timing which result in a net hp gain.

i understand the springs are needed past 7k then. but if i don't plan on going past that, would it be possible just to replace the cams even though they have a (assuming) higher lift than stock ones? obviously down the road, i probably will change them. but to save myself 200+ right away, would it be worth it to just upgrade cams and do springs later? since the powerband isn't past that 7k mark? i know mechanics are something i can do, i just don't know exactly the logistics of these cars... that's what my tuner is for he just tells me not to blow **** up lol

I personally would get springs with the cams. I did not realize that was what you meant. You really need springs and retainers due to the increased lift which can cause your stock valve springs to bind up/break.

got a lot to do to achieve that goal without blowing your motor. i pushed mine to 263whp before i blew mine up. now i'm fully built from the ground up.
