Is it just me, back me up 2.2 guys...

Here recently, it seems as most people with 2.0L Supercharged cobalts are talking down on us 2.2L guys. It kinda gets on my nerves when they do this because well pretty much the 2.0L SS/ 2.4SS are variants of the 2.2L ecotec. If the 2.2L ecotec wasn't introduced there could of possibly been no cobalts or so on and so on. Now i know the 2.4 quad-4 has been out for a while so i wont say its a direct vairant of the ecotec, but the 2.2L ecotec did pave the way for the engine in the Cadillac CTS, the 3.6L. Now if people question why we race or try to modify our cobalts, i say why modify your car, its a 4 cylinder just as ours ! We are all cobalt owner's mostly, why cant we get along ? It just aggrivates me, our cars have just as much potential as the 2.0/2.4 i think anyway. I just think we should all appreciate each others cars a little bit more cause we all one big family and we all like to take down imports, so lets keep it that way. If you must argue or flame me, nows the chance...

I mean, i dont want anyone to take this the wrong way. I love all cobalts, and im not just trying to single out any one car or engine. I just want everyone to see the potential in each platform and for some people not to question why other people who have a slight smaller power level do things to their cars. For people who dont think the 2.2L has potential, i've personally ran down a 03 Honda Civic Si hatchback, all stock...not to talk **** about honda's but it just gets old when people who have more power think there better than the smaller guys like me....

But im just here to represent the !

its the same reason that everyone makes fun of the civics and imports b/c they are "slower", and "beneath" your car, they figure if ur car is slower then theres y bother moding it b/c its not an SS/NA or SS/SC. Most ppl on this forum are not that hateful to the 2.2's but you do come across the occational egotistical SS owner that thinks they are the super **** or whatever and its just something that we have to deal with being 2.2's. But wait for the turbo kits and SC kits for our cars and then we will just have to show 'em what our 2.2 are made of.

its not always about speed guys.....a lot of us bought the 2.2 because we dont need that kind of power but we love the cobalt....thats why we're all here coz we like the cobalt, and we talk about it here

i really hate those ppl who think the 2.2 is crap because we cant keep up the the SC guys

Do not have a 2.2 but pretty much the same anyways. If you ever come across someone going on about their powerful motor and how fast it goes in the1/4 then just take him to your local AutoX and you will see how far a bigger motor gets you autox its a drivers race

Just my opinion and what I've seen in other cobalt sites theres alot of people on this site and the other site that think the people with the ss/sc's want to put people down for not buying the sc I had a 2.2 sedan and I liked alot the only thing I didn't like was the 16" wheels with the sport pkg it felt like it took alot of the torque and pick up away from the car and even though I now have a 2.4 and yes it's it's an auto and I know i'll get flamed for that also, But I do have a handicap from birth and thats why I have the auto bottom line we all have our prefrence and we are all chevrolet cobalt owners so ppl should quit Doggin on the other like I said this is my opinion

When someone finally cracks the computer on the 2.2L the mods will begin and it will really show it's true potential.

Lol, man i used to have a 2004 civic and it was okay, but it just had no power and the stereo was a joke, your rsx is prolly a lot better, but i just find that my cobalt is much more furfilling than my honda. Nothing against honda, they make reliable cars, but just not a lot of torque which is what i like.

I hear you man. Some people on here are just ********. "Why would you race a 2.2?"- unamed member.

Who the hell cares. Enjoy your car and if you want to mod it, go ahead. If you want to race it, by all means do it.

I agree I got flamed, to my face, at my FIRST meet by a sedan owner..... (I am NOT flaming, I'm just saying...) Why cant everyone respect our choices? I love modding a base car, I take more pride in running a fast car that didnt come with a SC but I am still completly in love with the SS/SC....come on, Recaro seats....drool.....haha.... But i dont agree with the talking down on imports , im an import lover

I think the reason most of them talk down on 2.2l owners is because the 2.2 guys seem to do MORONIC things... like put SS/SC wings on their cars.... I mean... cmon...

deffinatly, there are some of us that dopnt deserve cobalts, i looked at a post yesterday sopme guy has SS badges on his car,,,, his defence was he should be able to if a 2.4 can, neather have SC's. Somone later said at least they have some of the SS parts on the 2.4 which makes them and SS. So what does this guy do? he bought an SS wing just to say hes got some of the SS parts lol

it's pretty typical, very common with Redline owners too. IMO it's extremely childish, but it happens everywhere believe it or not. cannibalism within a brand and even model based on trim levels. hell, I've had guys with Cobalts trash talk my Ion and my friends Redlines, which makes no sense to me at all (no, not anyone on here).

then again, I haven't had much problem with guys like that once we get on the road

of all the groups of compact cars, domestics aren't all that large, and on top of that GM doesn't have much ground aside from jbody owners and the small cult of saturn s-series owners. we're all on the same team here, so lets act like it.

I just love how when you pull up to a SS/SC owner at a stop light, acknowledge him (or her), they just look at you like WHAT THE F#*K! Come on guys, it's still a COBALT too!
This has happen to me a few times, (and they know who they are!). I'm proud of my 2.2L Cobalt, I didn't buy it to race........I bought for the gas mileage. I have done a few performace mods to it, it is not, or never will be as fast as a SS/SC...and that is just fine with me!

.......I'm not say'in ALL SS/SC owners are like that, but I have ran into a few that are!

Heres is my favor smack on the 2.2, when talking about supercharging the 2.2 this is always the response i get.
"Why dont you just trade it in for a ss s/c and dont waste your time or money."
Geez that pisses me off so much. If i could have afford the car and the insurance i would have gotten one. Plus the wing is fugly
