L61 S/C questions

I am In the process of aquiring parts to S/C my Ion. So far I have all major components but some of the smaller parts are harder, and expensive to come by. So I thought I read somewhere(there are so many build pages) you dont need the LSJ tensioner you can put a pulley near where the allenhead plug is on the block/head area. Am I right? cant remember where I saw it and have read thru alot of build articles and almost all list lsj tensioners. Any help on that would be appreciated.

Also my ride is an 05 Ion and what I am reading Trifecta is my only tune option. Is there anyone else that does the L61? Thanks for any help.

Never heard of running said pulley instead of the LSJ tensioner setup. And Trifecta is your only option unless you run a stand alone unit.

Doesn't ZZP use some alternate belt setup in their kit?

yeah looks like they do
Cobalt & Ion ---> ZZ Performance

might want to check w/ ZZP and see if its something they can give you more info on. most people just swap the LSJ stuff over though

ZZP uses a 5 rib pulley for the 2.2 and a custom modular pulley system so you don't have to swap everything over from a LSJ.
