looking to add turbo or sc

i know there are lots of threads about adding a supercharger or a turbocharger to a cobalt ls, but i just cant figure out enough about it to go ahead with it. I have heard that a supercharger is straight bolt on. if this is the case, can i just take one from a stock ss sc and put it on my ls? also, if i was to get a supercharger or a turbo, is that all i need. Can i do damage to anything else in my car by keeping everything else stock? i need a lot of help but want to get this done.

lots of research before you try anything like this. You will need a tune and gauges. the rods are rated at 250 crank hp so if you plan on going over that you will need to upgrade the internals as well. if you go with a supercharger you will need the intake manifold for the supercharger and more than that. There is plenty of build threads on here that will help you and I believe there is even a parts list for the supercharger build.

It depends on what kind of power you want out of your car.
You want 250hp? 300 hp? Because higher power levels need more parts. If you want to keep everything else stock, you could buy the ZZP turbo kit, keep the boost low (like 4 psi), and get a tune that doesn't allow you to rev higher than 7000 rpms.

i don't even care for that much hp. id just like to get over 200 but i know bolt ons wont get me that high so i figured supercharging would be the only option. is there a way to get that high with bolt ons or anything else?

and if auto, you will want to invest in an aftermarket tranny cooler, the 4t45e is a tough cookie, I beat the hell out of mine S/C'd daily, but the stock cooling for it is terrible. Aftermarket cooler is a must for FI.

Research x over 9000!

I went SC route but that was a good 2 years in the making as far as getting parts here and there.

a 75 wet shot is about the safest thing you can do on stock internals. I do miss the boost juice I must say but I love my turbo.

my best advice is to either research the subject until no end or don't **** with your car.
