yelp that should be enough backpressure and still pretty loud.. Just remember that with no cat you will get a CEL..
Make sure that you use 2.5 exhaust pipe.. it gives a deeper tone.."sounds better"
The whole thing should not be to expensive either.. one time I picked up a glasspack from summitracing.com for under $30 ...and a stainless steel "fart can" off ebay for around $40

the thing that bothers me is that the people that feel that they are "superior" because they have the faster car models, or more mods, or whatever. if people go out and run 16+ second quarter miles, so what? they are out doing exactly what you are doing. racing. they are doing it because thats what they love to do. they are no different that you or anyone else on the track. someone with a slow ass 17+ sec car could have way more heart into the sport than someone with a 12 second car.

i know my car is slow, and i know it will always be slow. the thing that makes it all ok is that i have a lot of heart put into it. i can go out and run in the 15's and feel ok because i am doing what i love to do, drive my car.

you are entitled to think and say whatever you want, but come on. dont be one of the people that hate on people with slower cars than you just because. most everyone here is here because they love their cars. dont put them down for that just because it is slow. of course there are the select that are here to know how to make their car loud as ****, but for the most part people are legit. people ask dumb questions sometimes, but dont put them down because they have a 2.2 and you have the god almighty 2.0 sc.

come on. pick me apart for all i care, i mod my "slow" car for the same reasons anyone with a ss/sc, redline, srt-4, whatever mods theirs. i probably have more heart in my 2.2 than most have in their "fast cars"

IonNinja is not supercharged. he has a 2.2L

i would recommend running a cat no matter what. you'd probably be best with a hi-flow cat to a glasspack then 2.5" pipes out to a fart can, or leave the fart can off and put on a resonator tip.

and would i like blow up or anything if i didnt have backpressure? or would i loose power, if so how much.

ok... new scenario what is the LOUDEST exhaust i could get with the most amount of gains. on a budget... (i know those words dont go together but im sure custom wise we could make em work)

no you would just lose a noticeable amount of power and would become the definition of a ricer. loud and slow.

loudest w/ gains would probably be a nice header to a hi-flow cat w/ a 2.5" pipe, no resonator, to a good straight through glasspack muffler.. im sure other people will have other ideas too.

CA V1 header... Straight pipes off the header (eliminates buying a DP) have them weld on a magnaflow high flow cat, to a 2.5" glasspack??

yes it will bolt up, everything from the header back is interchangeable on the exhaust

my friend said that if you run straight pipes with a cat you will have enough back pressure. and hes a car guy so i assume hw knows what hes talkin about. NOT A HIGH FLOW is what he said. just a normal cat w/ striag pipes.

thats what i did for a while, its loud as hell but when you stomp on it, you kinda get a ricey sound, so i put on a glasspack up under the car, not near the end, and it lowered it down a bit.. not as ricey. you'll crackle and pop every time you let off, especially if you wind 2nd all the way up then just let off the gas

yeah if you use a regular cat and nothing else that should be fine.. but i suggest you make sure they put it together so you can weld in a glasspack later, you will get annoyed with the noise after a while. and again.. it will sound ricey when you stomp on it.
