Maintenance Question
Maintenance Question
So now that my cobalt and I'm sure many others have reached the 60,000 mile marker, what is all the maintenance that needs to be done? I couldn't seem to find the information and didn't look in the cobalt manual yet but I know the basics like fuel filter, air filter, etc but what is the complete list that needs to be done? Just wanting to make sure my ride is up to date maintenance wise and last forever.
The car is pretty easy to maintain. At 60k you may want to look at changing your serpent belt, and if you drive hard or in a really dusty climate, you may want to flush your cooling system and / or auto transmission, although neither call for it this early. Brake system flush never hurts either. Other than that, you have your tire rotation, air / cabin / fuel filters, oil change, etc.
Speaking of fuel filters, I have 30k miles on my car and have never changed the fuel filter and sometimes when I get on the gas it's almost like it hesitates, if I change the fuel filter will I get anymore get up and go out of the motor?
That totally depends on whether or not it's your filter causing the problem. That hesitation could be any number of things...but since you're at 30k, it definitely wouldn't hurt to change it.
Serpentine belt (if it needs it), transmission fluid, coolant, couldn't hurt to clean out the fuel system (injector and throttle body cleaner), air filter if it needs it, etc. Check all the basic stuff.
