Maybe the Third Time Is the Charm? (Another blown engine)

Yep. Blew my second engine in the car out Autocrossing yesterday.

I can't really get mad. This was an engine with "20,000 miles on it" supposidly, and I paid $100 for it off Craigslist.

The timing is poor tho. So now I have 2 blown L61's...

Heres video.

The first one tossed a rod bearing while driving down the highway.

I have no internal work done to these. Full exhaust and full intakes on them. thats it. Like i said, this one was a junkyard engine basically, but still.

Nah. Fast cars drag race. Fast drivers road race. Autocross, lapping days, and time trials are way more fun than the 1/4 mile

Drained oil (put in 20w50 to limp it around) It was brown (only had 1000 miles) didnt smell bad, but there was silver flecks in it. Oil pressure is still good, so I dont think its a bearing this time.

Sounds like a rod saying "hello" and very soon, "good-bye".

hope you have a second vehicle. but honestly you are going to need to build the engine if you are autocrossing it. the l61 was not made for that kind of abuse...

The 07's dont use the L61. They use the vvt engine.

Yea, i was hoping this would have made it till i could rebuild the one that spun the bearing.

Mine is a 2006. Only way i'll put a junkyard or salvage engine in is if it has a warrenty.

And I think it cracked a piston....
