Meth injection effectiveness/longevity question.

First off I know its gotta be a fairly new concept, being I've never really even seen it first hand installed on a car.

I assume it just squirts some higly flammable alcohol into the intake to hit the combustion chamber, what kind of increase in engine temp does this cause? Doesn't it throw a CEL from the system thinking its too rich / lean?

Not to mention what kind of toll does using this stuff have on your engine. I know NOS is hard on engines, so I'd imagine this is a step under that, yet with higher temps so hypothetically it sounds like its more dangerous than nos.

Please advise. If its cheap horse power at a push of a button i may look into it.

I suppose I'm looking for a explanation on hp gains, vs engine toll. I'd like to get more informed on this before making a decision.

It is a cooling mod.... but some of us also use it for the higher octane benefits as well.

Does it throw codes.... Not usually if you are tuned for it because it's part of the tune. I have been running it for a year now with no adverse effects. I know other have been using it longer than that as well!

If you use washer fluid you will notice some corrosion or build up on the throttle body and intake manifold.... I took my blower off the other day and clean it all up and it wasn't that bad.

There is actually a whole thread dedicated to Meth/ Water injection! I'll find it and post it up here. Hope that answers your questions!

It works best with turbo or Supercharged cars and tuned after install. Main use is to cool the heated air created by the supercharger or turbo, addition of meth or alcohol is to increase combustion and is usually mixed with water. I have read using straight Methanol will begin to eat at the coating of the supercharger blades, rotors, not sure what the proper term is. I found nothing bad about turbos but then again I really wasn't looking.

I have not gotten a cel after install 2 weeks ago, though it did cough the next morning during startup, after increasing the boost level the problem has not returned, though I may have just jinxed myself with that comment. My AFRs got richer during WOT and my IAT2 were cooler. I've since returned the AFR's back to where I like em.

Its not a push button instant power item it more of a obtain boost level gain power thing. Its probably better to get a progressive controller than a boost controller and have a gradual increase in spray instead of all at once, probably what caused my hicup the next morning as there might have been fluid left in the intake at startup though I can't be certain.
