milled head

anyone done this on their ride and how much u shave off. i always heard that once you pull an alum head off to have it milled some to keep it true on the new head gasket. but also would it gain some compression since your lowering the quinch point

yes you can shave it down quite a bit but you got to keep checking for piston to valve clearance. and yes it will gain some CR someone with more knowledge will mostlikly chime in here before too long.

Yes you have to watch piston to valve clearence what cc are they now ?For every 7 thousandsths you shave off you will take off one cc.If you shave it to thin the head will warp, also if you shave it to much if the valves hit the pistons you will have to fly cut the pistons wich isnt going to be cheap.

You are to be able to take off 20 thousandths with no problems. That should get you about a half point more in compression also about 10 hp.

Here is what you can do take the head off get some playdoh adout 1/8 inch thick bolt your head back on and turn the moter over by hand, take the head back off and see if the valves touched the playdoh measure the thickness were the valve hits and that should tell you how much you can saftly shave your head. you need about 80 thounsandths clearence
on the intake valve and about 100 thounsandths on the exhust valve.

so when you say a half point in compression are saying it would bump my motor 10.5:1? and when i check with the play doh, do i check it with the hg installed or leave it out that way i gain more clearance once installed
