Mkulrey13's Build Thread - Turbo 2.2+

Ok, figured i'd start another build thread....yea im not trading in the sedan It got damaged at the track so might as well keep it.

Parts To Order :

AEM F/IC - Ordered
Eagle Rods
Diamond Pistons
Boost Controller

Yea not much to the build, but my goal is 300whp at MOST no more. I believe my engine can handle it besides the rods, pistons im just doing for the heck of it. Not sure if there are any tranny upgrades for the 2.2L 5speed. I know its rated a 250wtq which im at with 249wtq so well see how well that goes. Anyways, anyone got any other ideas or parts i should get Please feel free to list them. Also, any posts that retain to me buying a LSJ instead will be reported

block is exactly the same, only problem is the crank reluctor ring is a 58x and the 2.2 use a 6x or something (cept the 08' they use the same)

hmmm... i cant remember where i read that the .2 difference between the 2.2l and the 2.ol was the block being shorter...

im probably wrong though... just trying to figure out where i heard that.

nah all ecotecs pretty much use the same block size. different stroke btwn the 2.2 and 2.0, and that reluctor ring, and of course the exhaust cam sensor.

the stroke is diffrent via diffrent crank...a 2.4 is a stroked 2.2, and a 2.0 is a destroked 2.2, same bore...ther emore but thats the basic stuff...i mean u can get more into it as far as diffrences in the block but im not going into it

id be more worried about the pistons then the rods. have u seen them? I've got 8 in my garage if ud like to check one out. definitely do pistons and rods and make sure u figure out where ur tubos gonna run outta air at because from what I remember it barely moved enough air for 300hp without getting really inefficient.

its rated to 300hp, which is what i will be going to MAX, ill be happy with anything over 250whp really, i mean its a 2.2L already surprises the **** out of people. Heck half of them dont even know what it is..

Well, I would sell you my Eagle rods, but I might have some ideas of my own.

Good luck with the build!

BTW, what did you ever end up doing with that stock exhaust I gave you? lol

have u also thought about switching to a better intake manfiold like the 2.4s or the hahn? u would see a much better increase with the hahn but its pretty pricey. you will most likely be running about 18psi on that turbo, pushing it right to its limit, to make about 315bhp. that's if ur on stock redline and right at sea level. id expect about 280whp depending on the tune.
