More fuel questions

Ok well i was thinking if theres no computer tuning for the 2.2 would a SAFC work? I mean i know you cant control everything with it but wouldnt it allow you to lean/ richen the car? Im not positive on how they work to the exact but i have installed a few and tuned lil bit on a few dsms?

Well Apexi does claim it's "universal" but I haven't seen anyone use it on their 2.2 Cobalt

there have been people with 2.2 ions who used the safc2, so it's worth a shot

Not really. People just don't want to be guinea pigs now and days. They'd rather wait till someone else does it to make sure it works.

Installation of these things aren't really difficult. If someone can get a wiring diagram for the 2.2 Cobalt computer than it would make it much easier but if someone knows what their doing, it's not that difficult.

You guys can go to Apexi's website and bring up their PDA and read about the installation and how it works: www.apexi.com

I have a SAFC-II only problem I'm having is finding the ECU pinout for the Cobalt's 2.2L ECU.

Installation is easy...its the wiring that gets people.

Yeah you had the diagram. It's a pain without one, and honestly shouldn't be attempted without one. Your talking about playing around with a couple hundred buck part.

if we can get an safc to work. we can get a turbo to work. by getting the safc to confuse the computer into thinking no boost is comming in we can run small boost, say 12psi and still get good power. All you do is get over sized injectors, so even if their still running the regular cycle, ur still pumping more fuel because their bigger. ur not running rich because ur running boost. the car just thinks ur not. This may not be good for the longivity of sensors but is a start for running boost on these "special" cars lol

that's how a lot of people boost n/a cars, run a afc to control larger injectors and tune for a safe ratio with a wideband.

only issue you guys will have is that there's no control over ignition timing, and I have a feeling that as you pull fuel out it will advance timing. as long as you didn't go with this on a high boost setup, and didn't go with way too large injectors, you should be alright.

not sure what you mean about longevity of sensors though, there should be no effect on their lifespan by using this.

like I said, as long as the 05 and 06 have the same wiring and such I should have one for you guys tonight if not by this weekend (I actually have to work on my car tonight for the first time in months instead of everyone elses lol)

OK guys...I got the diagram DIRECTLY from Chevrolet. It's awesome knowing the right people. And I guess working for a dealership opens you up to getting easier help.
