If you want light look into Kobe Rims, my friend mike had them on his SRT, his 18's with tires were lighter than just my tires.

these are the two wheels I like

the second ones way less and are the same price (17 x 8 and only 14 lbs)

yea me too, if they stay the same price or whatever the next couple of months I'll be able to buy them

I have upgraded my suspension, I get to do my brakes in DEC or JAN and get my wheels in FEB

I am going section by section on my car, Engine and drivetrain is last

Head Gasket/Head

OK so I started this thread to talk about my build and not start a bunch of other threads.

I'm looking into head gaskets and am contemplating what thickness to get and how much it will affect my comp ratio

the cometic head gasket choices for me are .040 (stock) .045 and .051

I am using the 10.1:1 wiseco pistons and a 2.8 pulley on my M62

2.8 and 10.1:1 comp is probably the limit, also my other question concerns head work, I have already ported the intake manifold outlets slightly and the inlet to the s/c at work (have more work to do to the s/c), I plan on just porting/polishing the intake/exhaust ports on my head. Will this or has it been found to produce good horsepower results?? And what about oversized valves?? I will be using comp cams "blower" grind. So will porting of the intake/exhaust ports yield good results or do I need more work than that done. what about patriotperformance 2.2L stage 2 head?

and I talked to TTR about the wiseco 10.1:1 pistons. I think they'll be fine for my application

you should be fine with stock thickness on the headgasket...i wouldn't go thicker unless you were trying to drop your comp slightly for whatever reason. thats the only reason I know of personally to run a thicker headgasket. maybe other reasons include large amounts of boost?

as far as headwork goes, I don't believe the head becomes a restriction until 300whp IIRC but any bit would help. if i had to do it over again and I was just reving to the normal 6.5k-7k limit i would keep the stock head, grab some arp head studs and blower cams and call it a day.

ok, I know using the thicker gasket will lower compression, what I wanted to know was with the stock thickness and 10.1:1 pistons and a 2.8" pulley will I be ok?? I dont want to lower compression if I dont have to

I plan to make over 300hp (hopefully 300+ at the wheels)

so what should I do with the head, just port the intake and exhaust ports? I planned on changing the valve springs but not the valves.

and when you say the head is good for around 300whp, is that NA or FI, because there is a difference, like the heads on the LS3 (L92 heads) flow well enough for 600 hp NA, but over 1000 FI

Thats blown. You'd likely never see even 250bhp with an unported head NA

ok cool roger that!

so with some porting of just the intake/exhaust ports I should be good for a little over 300hp
