My car is acting crazy! Please help!!

Ok so the car wouldn't start this morning (I think the 15* weather last night drained it) so I get my friend to jump it off. Got it running and went to drive and the TC, ABS, check engine and check power steering lights came on And the speedometer will not work. When driving at like 20mph it's a 3500-4000 rpm! I thought ok maybe the battery is bad or somethin so I put a brand new battery in it and it's still doing the same thing. The check engine code is U0101... I'm scared to drive the car cause i I don't want the motor to blow up and I have no other transportation right now. Anyone know what's goin on?? Thanks in advance for any help

-Nathan

if its under the factory warrenty you wont pay anything. if you have the extened yea you do but its worth it, thing like this could be a easy fix or end up being a total loss of a car

Yeah, a lot of people still think they can jump modern cars like their old carbuerated ones.

It needs the ground to be on the frame and not on the battery.
Correct me guys if I am wrong.
I was told if you don't ground it somewhere on the motor or frame it has a chance that it will fry the computer.

Doesn't matter if its on the frame or the terminal. I jump cars all the time in my school auto shop and hook both cables to both terminals of the battery and never had a problem.

There's a spot on the strut bolt for the jumper ground. If you don't hook it there then you're a dope.

Well its easy to jump the cobalt. Hugh terminal by the fuse box for (+) and just clamp the negative on the body or some unpainted surface.

the point of not having the ground on the battery is because it can spark. and the battery puts off a gas that is flammable

Then what is the correct way to jump a car that has a computer?
I might be wrong, but I detect that my statement about using the frame for the negative is not being believed.

Just like any other car, there are fuses to prevent anything from getting "fried". Your computer "relearns" within the first few mins (hence why when you add an intake you should disconnect your battery)

His car isnt messed up from getting jumped, there is another problem, dead battery, dead alternator or something else, best bet it to take to to someone who knows what they're doing, stop being a cheap ass and take it somewhere /end rant

This happens alot whenever the alternator goes bad. The alt is suppose to send AC current but because its going bad it sends DC current which messes with the systems. Also a lack of power to the systems also cause this.
