My engine build
Decided late last year I wanted to build a motor before my existing stock one blew or something, so this has been a work in progress since December 2013.

The valve cover was a crazy difference. It was coated with calcium on the outside, and I breifly thought about cleaning it myself...then I spent $45 to have the machine shop glass bead it. BEST $45 I've ever spent I think...haha
Next was finding the time at work to swap them. Ran from 5pm one saturday to 12am, then the next day from 12pm to 8pm. Had to do a few more last minute things during the week after work everyday before I could start it though (wasted 1.5hr on day two of swap fighting with an FE5 arm with a balljoint that was too big).
Also, the yellow rope was all one piece. We had it holding the rads, and the ac compressor. Used the tow hook on the front to help as well. New use for Powell tow hooks? haha
Nice clean blower, machined to accept a 2.8 on the GM hub. Many thanks go to Mr. Powell for this one!
Pulling it out of the shop after start up. Gauge on dash was oil pressure. Since disconnected as its been fine.
Build list:
-Wiseco 10:1
-Eagle rods
-ARP head studs
-Clevite hardened rod bearings
-LSJ head gasket
-new delco water pump
-new 80* thermostat
-new timing set from Powell [w/ARP guide bolts]
-new front cover [still sporting the made in Canada sticker haha]
-60s
-2.8 pulley
-fully cleaned the head w/new valve seals [had the machine shop do it, along with assembling the rotating assembly...couldn't be bother to mess with that haha]
-and probably more. I don't remember really

Thanks everyone. I haven't really got on it too much yet. Still on break in oil for a touch longer then I'll put synthetic and start looking at doing pulls. Need to datalog it too as it's just a base tune at the moment.
The hoist is very convenient. My bro and I own a dealership so I can use it whenever, and in a case like this where the car was inop for a few days, I just plate a car up and I'm on my way (iirc I was rockin a 2011 impala lol)

I'll be changing the oil today at about 350miles. As per bottle you should do 400 then change, but I had to do several rounds of bleeding my cooling system (which involved revving and idling a bit more than usual) so I'm going to change it a touch early. Been keeping an eye on the level and condition and it seems fine still. Only had to top up a very small about after the first couple days but nothing since.
