My engine problems
So i got my 2005 cobalt ls from my dad on my birthday(it was his old car). He gave it to me in pretty good shape except for the Check Engine Light was on and i asked him about it and he told me that he had gotten it fixed but they had just forgotten to turn it off(WTF!?) and i ignored it for awhile. After ignoring it for about 6 months it wouldnt crank one day so i got my friend to jump me and it ran really funny(the whole car was shaking and it had a really bad idle). I took it to autozone for a check it gave a random/multiple misfire code, they told me that i needed to buy a new ignition coil, so i did and it didn't help
then they told me i needed to buy an ignition module and that fixed it and my engine was running awesome and the check engine light went off and everything. 3 weeks later the CEL came back! I took it back to autozone and the same error (random multiple misfire) its not that big of a deal but it runs a little funny (it jumps a tiny bit when I'm going slow and sometimes it doesn't have a smooth idle) WTF is wrong with my car?
I'd appreciate any help.
Btw I've cleared all the codes from my car (unplugging it from the battery and all) so thats not one of the probs.

My brother has a 06 pursuit and he had a bad idle sometimes. He ended up having to replace his fuel injectors. I would take to your nearest chev dealership and get it checked out. If it is your injectors they'll replace them for free since its still under your powertrain warranty.
i told you tyler, dealership right down the street on 64 got a nice 2.4 Silver SS preowned.
they also got a really nice 09 red turbo
I JK
dont do that then you be in debt like $20G before you even get out of school, like me
ha free bump anyways

Winner.
If you replaced the coil pack and control module, then that's the only part of the ignition system left.
And stop unplugging your battery to clear the CEL. That is NOT the best thing to do for your car. Read this:

Many people have had the same problem. You have the problem, replace the ICM, the problem goes away for a bit, then comes back.
I'd say bad spark plugs are fouling the ignition control module.

Ok so today I'll probally get some new sparkplugs even though I got new ones like 4 months back. Also should I check any of the ignition wires or rubber boots? Because last time I change my plugs they had a bit of corrosion on em?
Okay, well you didn't tell us that you also got new spark plugs. So they are fine too. You didn't drop them when you installed them, did you? A dropped spark plug is garbage.
There are no ignition wires on any Ecotec engine.
There are rubber boots however. I have never had to replace my ignition coil pack, but I would suspect new boots would have come with it. You did replace yours. Did it come with new boots or are you still using the original ones? Because if you are using the originals, then that would be the next thing I would replace.

oh ya, autozone. i had a friend that worked with me he was 17 and as soon as he turned 18 autozone hired him and he knew absolute nothing about cars, he wasnt interested in cars, he didnt even own a car. i was like seriously? wtf? lol
the only thing they do is read what their computers tell them.

If something else goes bad and you need another coilpack lemme know. I got a spare with 25k on it and worked perfect when removed from the car. Just figured I may be able to save ya a little money and get rid of clutter.
Check the wires for the ignition module where they come out and run down along side the head, make sure they arent chafed or otherwise damaged on the head, bolts or any othe edges in that area.
