that sucker's TIGHT! at least it is now.
I actually added the blue connector in the middle of the piping because on my way home one day from work it opened up right there. those"connectors" spectre puts on their pipes are kinda cheap so I used the coupler to add flexibility.

yea, there's a trick to getting them to sit right... if you get them in there, they sit real nice, but it's a pain in the ass to get them to sit right...

I was going to do this mod yesterday, but gf got sick so i had to take her to the dr. Going to do this next time I have time. You remember how much that was to do? Are all the sensors and stuff still int he original stuff or are then in the after market parts? One last question.. How would this plus the airbox mod compare to the GMPP intake part?

ditch the air box.. spectre sells a gm MAF sensor mount ( i'm not sure if it would work for the balt though) and the opening is the same size as stock i think. it would be worth a try to get a cheap intake since if it works then you could make a cheap (c $80-$100) CAI I was thinking about doing this for a while but i don't have money for things that are gonna get replaced eventually , F/I ftw well eventually haha

well if you did that + a cone filter it should (in theory) be like the gmpp intake. however if you can use the maf sensor and you can get it to work... you might as well make a CAI for better gains

absolutely not.

A panel filter flows every bit as well as a cone filter, it's all about surface area and how much surface area you need... a cone is just a panel, rolled up.

My next plan is from the bottom of the airbox, I'm going to run pipe to go where the foglights would be and make a little scoop...bam underhood ram air. and it's sealed because the factory airbox is sealed, no need to worry about pulling air in from the engine bay with an open cone.

It cost be a little over 50 bucks for the pipes, and connectors...

I used:
2 3" to 3" connectors
1 3" to 2.5" connector
1 90* pipe
1 22.5* pipe
1 4" straight pipe.

that looks nice, if I didn't have CAI I'd go that route instead of sticking that filter in the engine bay which is retarded.

air box mod ftw!

No, I don't expect to see much gain. coming from something that might be good for 10hp on a 350cu in engine, i might expect to see 3 at the most from this LOL

Don't forget there has to be some flex capability in the tubing. The engine moves around a bit so if it is too rigid to the box you are apt to pull it apart somewhere. the GMPP intake has a large rubber "donut" connector that takes care of this flex.

I haven't had a chance to check, and to be honest my air filter is 18k miles old so it might not make a MPG gain at this point. There is a slight sound change once you get on it some.

I'm on the other side of 71 from you. You know, where our football team is better and our baseball team is worse :p

the intake resonator is not there, and if it was, you wouldn't see it in a shot of the engine. i think you're referring to the airbox. the reason it's there is for the sai hookup. that was the entire point of going with a custom intake.

Guess I must be Mistaken, but when I sold my Colorado for this car...the truck had that huge ass plastic box thing just in front of the throttle body... That WAS the intake RESONATOR... this car if I remember right from tearing into it on day one has TWO...one in front of the throttle body and one in the fender. I'm just looking to get rid of the first one so I can start dressing up my engine bay some... The second one or rather the first one in the fender is there for extra sound deadening and to suck in cold air...

I'm going with a Black/yellow theme, and can't continue adding to the looks of the car with the plastic crap everywhere under the hood.

Also the engine cover with the stock intake part still looks retarded, that is why I wanna do this mod.
