It will be closer to 2" (GM is known for using 1.75" piping). If you're just welding a muffler on to your current exhaust system, get the 2 or 2.25"...really doesn't matter because any good welder can get it welded on your pipe properly.

well thats the probleme i was more thinking about an exact fit so i can use a U-bolt and i could do it miself, so i guess my best bet would be to get it done so they can do the adjustment ?!?! i guess it would be 60$ for an hour ? 1.75 is pretty smal now im more thinking about a cat back, what company is better ? I know magnaflow makes good ones but i aint gonna pay 800$ for 6 feet of piping and i dont whant a noisy exhaust too, here the cops are really strick on that

Go to a local shop and have them make you a cat-back setup and buy the muffler that you like. You will find that you spend less money and the performance will be the same as if you went and spent a bunch of money on other brands. Make sure they are doing either compression bends or mendrel bends...no crush bends. Your local Midas or something like that usually does compression bends and performance shops will probably have a mendral bender (they're more expensive to have done due to the equipment being expensive and the process being longer).
