Newbie Question

This may sound like a dumb question, as I have not bought nor researched the Chevy Cobalt yet. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to install a supercharger on one of the lower models (i.e. LS or LT)? If so, what kind of engine upgrades are required for this endeavor? If this is possible, it seems like a much cheaper route for us poor folks who cannot afford the SS

yes it can be done, you can put a blower on the ls or lt, the compression is higher on the 2.2, but you need to get the ecu from the ss/sc so tuning wont be to hard nor expensive, i myself am debating on which way i want to go.... i have both options, turbo..... or sc.... so there is your answer, also you need the intake manifold as well..... all in all the sc would be easier and much less expenive.....why do you ask for money reasons of buying one of the two im assuming?

i'm not trying to offend you, i just see this happen alot and im basically trying to protect you. If you don't know the parts involved in adding forced induction to an n/a engine, i would NOT buy a car thinking you are going to. You really only want to plan on something like that if you really know what you are doing. It is going to cost you alot more cash if you don't install it yourself, and you wont have ANY engine/tranny warranty if something breaks. This means you'd have to fix it yourself (if you cant install your own blower and you blow a rod you are fucked!) or pay rediculous amounts of money for someone else to fix it. Really, overall, unless you really know what you are doing, buying an ss/sc will probably be less of a hassle and cost less money in the long run. If you can't afford the ss/sc, try looking at the ss 2.4, and if you can't afford that, you may want to look into used models. Do want you think is best, but i am just warning you.

Wrong.
Have you actually done this? Do you know anybody that has? Please don't theorize, stick to fact.
