OFFICAL MODDED 2.2L THREAD. "56k gdiaf"
Copson:
Are you running a wideband 02 sensor??
Youre missing the TB gasket support in your 2.4 manifold.
Is that asphalt based sound damper in the trunk?
Why did you/the shop decide to mount your tweeters so far away from your woofers?(on top of dash)
Is that the CIA cat/dp?
Your box looks like a really nice piece.

So I recently picked up some 17" adr rims w/ kuhmo tires off of spectral when he traded the aveo in on a redline...
I tool LOTS of pics and you are more then welcome to see them all at photobucket under the name Tomhawkcobalt
I have also redone my interior....I used to have the gray/ tan stock interior...but i found a few wrecked balts at the local junkyard, and for 150$ (which my gf chevylschik bought me for my bday
) i got all the seats, and all the black trim i could get!!! the only thing i couldnt get was the door panels, and the top part around the small side back windows....
it looks nice
the wrecked balt had only about 10k miles to my almost 35k...so new seats
2006 chevy cobalt LS BASE (came with NO options)
overall mods:
lowered on ss/sc springs, jason smith strut bar, 17" ADR rims wrapped in Kuhmo tires, debadged, stock low pro spoiler (added after), shortned antenna, 3" Ebay CAI w/ AEM dryflow filter, Clear Image 4-2-1 tri-y header, 3" high flow DP, 2.5" exhaust w/o resonator w/ magnaflow canister exhaust, black stock interior from the wrecked balt, red LED's under the dash, 140mph SS gauges w/ black cat customs red and black gauge face, painted dash trim - maroon(came out too light, will repaint this summer), painted engine trim - maroon, pioneer premier head unit, jbl 300.1 monoblock amp, 2x12"x700watt rms dual subwoofers in ported box, and an alarm w/ pwr locks, 2 way paging, and extra sensors
Oh...and a custom dyno and road tune done by Vince w/ trifecta tuning (was the beta test car for 2.2l tuning)- puts 155whp and 154wtq as of now...
And for pics

The tune is AMAZING!!!! I can take on modded turboed jettas, mazda protege speed editions, modded scion tc's and various other modded cars with stock turbos and do just fine!!! a buddy with a modded sc says he likes it...does good for a 2.2.

My bitch. Not even a year old yet so more mods and **** will come.

Since these pics I put in a deck and mounted new pioneer 6x9's and whatnot. Need rims and to work on that interior though. Not a bad start though

Yes i am running a Wideband. The picture of my 2.4 manifold was when i was in the process of installing it. the sound damping is what they use in f-15 jets super light weight. but the texture is similar to asphalt base. as for the tweeters my sound set up is for staging effect. having the tweeters on the dash makes a center sound stage. Like if you were in a concert it is all in front makes a huge difference in the quality of sound. fzn14 and Cobalt2921 have both ridden in my car ask them how unbelievable it is. and the Clear image automotive dp has a 525cfm high flow cat.
i just made my first payment last week and i've spend probably close to 1200 in stuff for it lol.
so the 140mph guage is just plug and play ya i got the link to black cat pretty cool place... will that 140 mph guage get rid of the govenor or is that in the ecu?

and no...only way to get the gov removed is to get tuned...and OH is it nice :P
you have to get a ecu recalibration to get rid of the govenor. this can be done depending on what year your car is 05-06 use Trifecta Performance.
Yes the 140 is a plug n play but you have to get it from the same year as your car for it to work i believe cause they changed the ecu in the 07-09s from the 05-06's

Hey I have an Eibach Pro-Kit on my 2.2 and im looking to get Sportlines. Dont know if anyone is lookign to swap or anything, but if so let me know. Only bought them in July. Have about 3k on them.
Copson, my comment regarding the tweeter placement was based n the fact that Ive heard a lot of systems where the tweeters are really far away from the woofers like that, and they almost always sound better with the speakers closer together, makes the stereo illusion more effective. Also having the speakers firing on completley different planes(up into window, and sideways into footwells tends to alter the sound a lot. Do you have any time alignment set up for the tweeters since they are so far from woofers? are you running the woffers and tweeters active or passive?
And I gues its all personal preference in the end, but why would you want your sound stage in the center of your windsheild? Thats got to sound "small", did you try to set them up to make the stage wide,IE sound like it goes across the car outside of the a-pillars as opposed to centered on the dash?

In regards to them being on a different plane one of the best sounding cars in the world is a Zapco build Acura TL new body style which has the same time of placement. It is more what you do with it in the tuning process that makes the soundstage fall the way it does. The width is across the entire dashboard. The set up is run passively, at least at this point. Time alignment is an option I may explore at a later date if I decide to go active. More important than the closeness of the tweet to the mid is to have the overall speaker pathlength from the tweet to the listen and the mid to the listener as close as possible.
i dont have many pics but a mod list long as hell
