i didn't use that plastic thing LOL just take a zip tie and push it through the leather booth that goes around the shifter and zip tie it to the shifter should look like this when done

you'll be satisfied. this shifter is actually very nice. the stock shifter used to hurt my wrist when putting into 2nd and 4th bc of how far back it went. the twm shifter barely goes back. i love it.

Can you post the pics of it done?
im going with the same shfter i think and i dont wanna have troubles with the boot.
