just ordered my megan racing cat back exhaust off of bonehead performance just to find out that theirs a week back order I have to wait. Apparently I talk to a megan representitive and he said that people really like the drift spec exhuast and they can't produce them as fast as they are being bought... I keep everyone updated when it gets here.


One more question ive read about taking the silencer out of the exhaust makes it louder or something, but ive heard that you can get pulled over for this. Can someone please explain this ...Thanks

 

A week on back order is not bad at all. Some company's take a week to ship anyways.

 

The silencer bolts onto the tip of the muffler, this restricts the airflow so it is not as loud coming out.

I get looked at from my car but car people say its not that loud. I tend to lay off the pedal if I see a cop though, just in case. Have yet to have one behind me with the exhaust on though. We really have little to no issues out here though unless its a state cop, they all tend to freak out about modified cars.

 

Well of course if you remove your silencer its gonna be louder....hence the name "silencer", lol.

As far as getting pulled over....just depends on where you live really. I get pulled over all the time by VA state troopers for my exhaust....they ususually write "excessive noise" or "improper exhaust" on the ticket. Owell, gotta pay to play.

 

i have never gotten pulled over for my exhaust, been on for quite a couple months, i live in Tx, no prob here, just drive normal and it w ont get to loud, i shift at 2500-3000 rpms, never make excessive noise

 

Dosent matter how hard I try to be quiet....cops still hear me. My car is louder at idle than most cars are at WOT, lol.

 

Why two threads?

If you cut of the silencer it'll be much louder. You may get pulled over.

 

I have been waiting 4 weeks now for mine, I think you got a good deal, lol. I can't comment on the noise, but apparantly this is one of the loudest exhausts for the Cobalt. I am not too worried though, my friend as a 5.0 Mustang with straight pipes, and I don't think he has gotten any tickets.

 

I'm thinkin about getting exhaust but I don't want it to be too loud. Does anyone know what would be a good exhaust that sounds the nicest and is not too loud/obnoxious? Thanks!!

 

if your worryed about getting a ticket dont bother cutting it out being loud doesnt make you fast just makes it ricey borla has a much deeper sound to it

 

i had it ordered and it was takin forever to come in so i got the magnaflow and hooked it up to a zzp downpipe/high flow cat.. and wow.. its perfect.. really deep and is kind of loud when u step on it.. but when ur just cruisin its not much louder then stock.. the only bad thing i heard about the megan is that its always REALLY loud.. havnt heard it in person though.. let us know how u like it

 

I have a DC catback and its pretty loud when I get on it. But I havent gotten pulled over for it. I just get off the gas when I see a cop or shift to a higher gear just incase lol

well I finally got my megan racing exhaust on Friday after two weeks of being on backordered. I installed it saturday morning and I was blown away by the sound I got compared to the sound I thought it was going to be. Its not raspy or anyting, at least for me, right out of the box. I also can definently feel the torque and horsepower difference. It has a very loud and deep tone once the silencer was takin out.Great product for the price. I give it a 10 out of 10 hands down. Ohh and I would also like to think SSteveSc for the HOW TO.. I followed his intructions and it came out perfectly
