pacesetter fabrication?
pacesetter fabrication?
im interested in the pacesetter header but i was looking on www.modernperformance.com and they state "Installation is simple, with one cut needed before the catalytic convertor for installation of this piece". now im assuming this means on the pipe before the cat like the flange? can anyone add some insight to this for me?
to clear the install up for some of those who havent dont done these, regardless of pacesetters instructions you cant clamps these together...trust me, i have installed 2 of them...if you follow their instructions you end up with a downpipe inches from hitting the ground...
-remove stock downpipe
-remove stock manifold
-cut downpipe right @the top weld on the cat(exactly on the weld, not before, not after, right on it!!
-place pacesetters pipe n flange thing on the place you just cut
-weld the pipe on(you cant clamp bc there is nothing to clamp too(if you leave any pipe to clamp too, you end up with the downpipe hanging low and visible when walking away and to the car from a distance, looks ghetto...not only that but chances r you will scrape it on speed bumps, and steep driveways
-now that you welded it together, put the pacesetter header on
-put the downpipe on
-tighten down the 2 bolts for the header and the downpipe
-turn the car on
-remember to go back the next day and re-trq the 2 header to downpipe bolts
ps- i may be selling my pacesetter and downpipe combo...its still on the car, but i have been putting oremoving it pending nicer weather...but i would sell it with the header and the LSJ dp which is how you should install it to see any real gains, the stock dp is just to retrictive, no one needs that tiny straw piping
