Pacesetter Monza 88-1475 comments

I bought this exhuast setup for my 06 Cobalt LT. The exhaust sounds great and it deleted my cat. The pipe is the biggest "you can go" 2.6 inches. I love it, I need a video camaro so I can take some vids, any comments for this setup let me know

Here is the HTTP for the exhaust I bought.

It's a very well known setup, alot of poeple have negative things to say about it, but I think it's a decent setup. By the way, it didnt delete your cat, just your resonator, your cat should still be under there if all you did was install this exhaust.

people say negative things about it, but i'm getting it as well... i think it sounds good on the clips, and for the money you can't go wrong... i don't care if "it will rust and fall apart" in a couple years, because who knows if they're even going to have the car for that long...

Thanks for replys

Before I installed the exhaust system, I coated it with High Temp. Black cermanic paint. And it did delet the cat. The cat is loacted 3 feet 6 inches from the end of the header. The rear stock exhaust setup that the monza exhaust replaces starts at the cat and goes all the way back, you have to cut the srock exhuast in one place to get it out. The sound is perfect!!! It has a different sound from Honda, Toyota, and Mazada. It revs up and sounds deep and strong, and when the revs drop, it sounds just like my 87 IROC Camaro, I love the product.......

I will put movies and pics up soon...........

Im telling you, it doesnt remove the cat, only the exhaust resonator. If you look under the hood starting at the manifold, follow the piping down under the car, the cat is at a slight angle upward. There is an O2 sensor after the cat, if you did indeed remove the cat by just changing the exhaust, you'd have to put the O2 sensor somewhere, in which case it would throw a CEL...

If all you did was direct bolt on of the cat-back, it did not delete the cat. Look at these pics...

Just something to muffle the sound a little more.

CobaltBlue- How are the gains, sound over time, any indication of deterioration/rust?

no actually i had scratched mine on the one bend right before the rear axle and it has not began to rust yet. but it will eventially everything does. the sound is still the same it dosen't have any packing to blow out so it has stayed the same. it's still quiet at a highway cruze!

Anyone else noticed their coolant running a little hotter since you installed your Pacesetter cat-back? I hardly ever seen mine above 200 with the stock exhaust, but today it went all the way to 221 before it started going down. I mean the exhaust couldnt affect coolant temp, right?

Also, where did you use the rubber hanger that came in the exhaust?

i never used it. the temps are getting higher for me because the outside air is getting hotter. no the exhaust should have little or no effect on your temps. maybe your just driving it harder because it sounds soo good.

Hack, you're gonna love it. It's a little raspy revving it at idle, but under load it sounds very good. Couple of small things, it was hitting the thin metal guard that protects the gas tank, so I just took some pliers and bent the metal out of the way. And there was a bad rattle after driving about 2 miles, found out the longer than stock rubber hanger it came with was in the wrong place, switched it around and it's all good...

What do you think it would sound like on a SS/RL since it doesn't have a resonator if a aftermarket downpipe with cat delete...

i installed the pacesetter cat back about a week ago....1 and 2 second can be kinda raspy with pedal to the floor...but 3rd through 5th sound great...especially above 3500rpms.
i was curious if you could replace the pacesetter muffler with another kind and still use the pacesetter tip....maybe get a little better (deeper) sound.

Raspy as in how? Like Civic-with-a-bad-exhaust-system sound? Someone needs to put up a sound file for this exhaust system, cause if it's THIS great, why spend more money on another system? I'll just ceramic coat the whole thing so it won't decay, and even serve a purpose for temps. From what I've been seeing, it'd be cheaper to do all that, and STILL be cheaper than other systems. But I just want a good sound, I didn't buy this car to go fast.

Its gotta really really low tone to it, like chest vibrating. It sounds a little raspy right after you start it up, but after 3-5 minutes it sounds pretty damn good. Its pretty loud too.
