does it make a diff. would just putting an exhaust be just as effective???

Are you talking about the LSJ downpipe? If so I have an 07 ls which has the same manifold as the SS/SC but, and have a K&N SRI and an LSJ downpipe. I just recently put the downpipe on, and it doesn't seem to wheeze when you take it past 5K, and it feels a lot better from 3K to redline.
