Possible Lifter Tick?

When i start my cobalt from a cold start it ticks from a slow tick at idle and increases with RPMs. Im thinking its probably a lifter ticking but i want to more input on it to help me be sure. I cant really get a video because its quiet which makes me know its not a rod knocking.

What makes a lifter start ticking and how do i fix it? Best method for the money?

Thanks, Logan.

Also i do raise immortal hell in the Cobalt lol

The tensioner is oil pressure dependant. What year is your car? Old style tensioners should be replaced asap they can fail and jump timing.

since we have overhead cams we don't have lifters or push rods, just rocker arms

Have you ever had the head apart? There's definitely lifters. I have it too when I first start up the car and it's cold. Goes away after it warms up. I even took them all out and cleaned them.

Tensioner would only tick until oil pressure builds up(couple seconds). Exhaust leak can sound the same, but would go away when the head warms up unless its really bad.

I installed a new header and downpipe around a month ago with new gaskets. I rechecked my torque on the bolts last week so i know its not an exhaust leak.
